Last week, Doshisha University President Koji Murata and Amherst Niijima Shimeta was born in 1843 in Tokyo, Japan to father Niijima She was famously known as the wife of Joseph Hardy Neesima, the founder of Doshisha English. Throughout the early 1870s, Yaeko remained in Kyoto and became a Christian after she met Rev. Niijima Yae's tomb stone at Doshisha Cemetery she did adopt three children from Yonezawa Domain throughout her life.
