説得力のある言葉

私の生徒（私は英語圏から来ている人たちに日本語教えてます）や国内外の友人たちの中には、全くの無神論者もいれば、およそ宗教に興味のない人たちもたくさんいるんだけど、先日、新聞の広告の中の言葉に”う～ん、なるほどね！”って言う言葉があったの。
それはね　：　神様を信じなくてもいい、神様に信じられる人になれ！.........だって、いいと思わない？
ちなみに私めは自分でもげんなりする程の煩悩に悩みながらも仏教をお勉強しているんでございます。

Whether you are an atheist or not religious is not the point here. I just wanted to introduce you the phrase that I found in the newspaper the other day.
It says : " You don't have to believe in God, but Be a person whom God could trust. "
Good phrase, isn't it ? How do you think ?

楽しいラブレター

フランス語が母語の男性から愉快なラブレター（？）が来ます。
以前日本に住んでいたことがあるとかで、少々日本語が出来ます。
出来るだけ、日本語で書いてきます。　それが傑作です。

”あなたは、滑稽な女です。”........これは、”貴女は楽しくて、おもしろい人です。”って言いたい訳ね。

”あなたは、私の　たま　です。”......思わず吹き出してしまったです。
........これはですねぇ......”貴女は私の宝石です。”って言いたいんだって........あまりの誉め言葉に戸惑ってしまいますが、その前に.......吹き出してしまって...........いや、ほんとに楽しい！　疲れが吹っとんでしまうわ。

I enjoy exchanging emails with a man whose mother tongue is French.
He can speak Japanese because he lived in Japan before .
His Japanese is a beginner's level though.
He tries to write his email in Japanese.......it gives me a good laugh.

The other day he wrote : " You are my ball. "..........Excuse me......what ? ......I am your ball ????
How could I ?.......I am a girl.......so I can't be your ball.........but maybe......you could be my ball.......kya, ha, ha, laugh.
As you may know ....in Japanese ......" ball " has two meanings.
The one is .....as it is......like a glof ball or something.
The other is ......."testicle ".
What he wanted to say was........"You are my jewel ",...........he mistook jewel for tama (testicel or ball ).
His funny mistakes cheer me up a lot. Thanks !!

マドンナの才能

木曜日のレッスンの後、ビデオ屋によって、３本ＤＶＤを借りるのが、お決まりのコースになっています。そのうちの１本.....マドンナが監督してんの。.これがなかなかでした。私はマドンナのファンじゃないけど、彼女の才能にあらためてびっくりです。日本語の題は忘れた。英語のタイトルは"Filth and Wisdom "お時間のある方どうぞ！私は去年の８月からブログスタートしました。お暇なときはまえのも読んでみてください。

After the Japanese lesson on Thursdays I go to the Rental Shop and rent 3DVDs....it's my routine. One of them directed by Madona was so interesting . Honestly I am not a big fan of Madona but after watching the movie I had to take my hat off. The title is " Filth and Wisdom " I'd like to highly recommend you to watch if you have time. Oh, by the way I started my blog last August.......it would be wonderful you could check my old ones if you like. Thanks !

びみょうなズレpart２

聾唖者のための手話と耳が聞こえない人のための手話に、時に微妙な”ずれ”がある事を先日の教育ＴＶの番組で知った。例えば”やっと”と言う言葉への解釈の違い。どっちがどっちだったか、わすれちゃったけど、....講演の依頼をうけて、その.約束の時間の３０分前に着いている講演者が”やっと、来ましたね。”と言われた”手話”で内心ちょっとむっとしたと。　まさにこれって、私が英語話者と話していてときどき感じることだ。解決策は？.......もし質問できる雰囲気なら躊躇せずお互いに聞いてみることだって。そうやって少しずつ理解を深めるしかないって。そうだね。
今日も英語はなしです。Because my brain doesn't seem to be working.

英語と日本語の意味のずれ

ある時、日本語のレッスンで、オバマ政権が最初の訪問国に日本を選んだのは、べつに日本に敬意を払ってるからじゃなくて、まずは単細胞な日本の”自尊心をくすぐって”安心させておこうってことでしょ？......みたいな会話を生徒としていました。この自尊心をくすぐる......って言う表現をそのアメリカ人の生徒は.......in order to stroke Japan's ego......って言ったの。　私は pride, self esteem っていう言葉は知っていたけど、ego をこういう風に使うのって知らなかった。当たり前だけど、時にone-one co-relation in meaning がないって事を知らないといけないわね。
