Hi everyone.
I guess I created this blog just to write out my musings. sorry about the Japanese platform (and the lowercase s', keyboard's broke still). I mourn the loss LiveJournal to the Russians! And I won't create another Google throwaway for Blogger.
It seems Ameba is the last of the old-school blogging sites, and so here I am.
I'll write mostly in English here, but occasionally in Japanese. I will post random topics and thoughts that come into my head here. Usually on retro popular culture, daily goings-on in my life, maybe some movie reviews and thrift store finds. Things of that nature.
I lead a lifestyle that would probably be considered unique nowadays. still virtually stuck in the 20th century, I do not use social media (aside from IM programs such as Skype and Discord), I don't own a smartphone, and I still entertain myself with physical media. I also dress entirely in vintage clothes, which you may see some examples of here in the near future.
I am a half-Japanese (haafu), raised in Japan and now living in the USA, specifically New York City (for now anyways). I was involved in various underground subculture circles in Japan back in the 1990s, and still hold a deep love for the old-school Visual Kei music, fashion and movement, as well as the 1970s and 1980s glam rock and hair metal scenes that spawned it.
I am also a curator of a small (formerly huge.. long story for another time) collection of retro media and memorabilia, generally focusing on a '60s~''90s range. As the collection re-grows, I will document it here.
I also run a little virtual movie theater on YouTube, RetroTrash Night Cinema
, where I host livestreamed movies (usually ranging from mid-60s to early 2000s) three times a week with a live chat. Check it out if you like cheesy old movies (and occasionally not-so-cheesy ones)
I suppose that is all for now. I'll be writing here periodically and will post links to new posts on my Discord server in a special channel.
