Part One: Magic may be an Art, but Swords are about skill
Society tells you to be yourself, to be unique. Yet when you do so, they shun you and say you were an abnormality, a disgrace.
People tell you to follow your heart and do what you enjoy. Then when you search for that something, they say you are a waste of resources, useless.
So then, what’s my point?
There are people who are different and there are people who are different.
See the difference?
Not many people do. Nobody does actually. But not many people do.
Of the whole, those who use the excuse of ‘being different’ are the ones that disgrace those who are really unique. They are trash. There are no other words for them and I’m not going to care to give any more.
Then there is us.
We’re not trying to make some stupid statement pretending to be ‘cool’ or whatever darned word is used these days. We’re just us. We’re doing our part to produce a better society. Of course they don’t like it. It’s natural to be wary of things you don’t know.
It’s a Magic Society after all.
Everything is all about your Class. Everybody wants to be in the best. Be it those elemental Manceré, or the fake Veracity Knights, or the annoying Order of the Chronicle. They are always in eternal competition to stand above the rest. Oh, except the Alchemists, they take only one apprentice to pass on their secrets and knowledge.
Like I said, it is a Magic Society. A person’s magic talent is decided from birth. Obviously there are ways to increase one’s magic power, but born talents are an insane boost to get ahead of another. That talent, which eventually turns into skill, classifies a magic user.
The world has revolved around magic and magic alone. Letters are sent by familiars or servants, while transport means horses, carriages or dragons. OK, I’m half joking about the dragons, but there are Dragon Knights, rare as they may come. Killing dragons are not a taboo, but there ARE Dragon Knights…
So why does Society hates us so much?
“Oi.”
Weeeellll, if you performed a low blow to them…

“IT HURRRRRRTSSSSS!!!!”

“Xifan!! How could you even say that cutely?!”
“Because I am cute.”
This cute(violent) girl in front of me shakes her head, swinging her ponytail with a cute(evil) smile. Her innocent(demonic) smile brings light(darkness) to the people around her.
“You just thought something bad again.”
Xifan looked at me with her green eyes. It reflected light just like a gemstone would, which gave her a sparkle in her eyes that charmed males easily. Even if her chest may be somewhat lacking.
“AGAIN! This is your last chance Four.”
“I apologize for what I did! So why were you calling me for?”
I bowed to a perfect 90 degree angle.
“Ah yes! Look at this! It’s about the Neroi Magic Festival.”
“What? It’s just the start of the story and we’re already starting a Magic Festival Arc?”
“What are you talking about Four? We don’t have to participate. I was hoping that we could go there together.”
“Just the two of us?”
“Huh? Of course not. Izayoi is coming along as well.”
So the music genius is going together with us. Let’s see, who else is there to invite…
“What about Firé?”
“Firé said she had something else to do on that day.”
“I see. Let’s invite Yuki then!”
“Yuki huh…”
“Is Yuki busy?”
“Not really. I haven’t been able to contact her recently.”
“That’s normal. Yuki only accepts the hardest of requests that takes him some faraway place for several days.”
“But I have a bad feeling about this time Four. I hope she’s alright.”
“Of course he’ll be alright. It’s Yuki we’re talking about.”
Yuki is definitely the most hardest person to describe. First of all, there is not a single person in the entire Ledain Alliance that does not know Yuki’s name. That’s because Yuki is the most famous idol in the entire world. Yuki’s concerts sell out under one minute, people line up for days to buy Yuki’s albums and Yuki’s appearances on variety shows makes the ratings go through the roof. Yuki’s skill in magic is amazing as well, being S-Class in ALL the magic divisions.
Let me explain alittle bit more about the Class Rating.
The average normal person on the street would most likely be a D or C at best, which would make them a middle tier. After going through many more years studying and training, that normal person could hope to become B-Class. Only about 3,000 people a year reach A-class. And we’re counting every division in the world here. Of that 3,000 people, only 10 are allowed to HOPE to be S-class, everyone else has to be content with A-class. But there is still one Class that is higher than S, that is EX. EX-ranked people are one of a kind, impossibly unique and insanely strong.
Now you understand how amazing Yuki is in terms of ability. And here comes the hard part.
Nobody knows whether Yuki is male or female.
Oh sure, just take a peek under that skirt or pants and get slapped in the face, and you’ll know, right?
Wrong.
Yuki has been in many photo shoots before, and wore revealing swimsuits many times. When Yuki is a guy, there definitely is something in between his legs, and his body is something for girls to squeal over. When Yuki is a girl, her body is slender and soft, and the chest is real. There have been guesses as to whether Yuki has a twin sibling, but it is impossible to prove. That’s how much magic has advanced. There’s no such thing as body-swap or gender-changing potions. That’s just the idle thought of a bored storyteller.
Well, maybe Yuki found a way to do so, with all her knowledge in Magic.
“You’re right. I think I should have more faith in her.”
Xifan nodded slowly, but I don’t think she believed her words.
[Beep]
“Oh look, we have a customer. Let’s discuss the Magic Festival later.”
“Four…”
“Yes?”
Xifan blushed and looked away.
“You look nice in that Lolita clothes.”
“WHAT?!!!”
I rushed to look in the mirror and slumped to the floor at the sight of myself. My small body was dressed I was wearing a wig of long black hair and my face had goth loli make up on it. The blackness of the clothes would normally make me feel stifled but the white lace at decorative intervals balanced the color nicely. Even the dark red rose in the hairband made me somewhat visually appealing…
I sighed. There was only one person with the skills for this.
“Looks like Firé left a note. ‘Wear this to entertain our next customer, my lovely shota(smile).’”
Xifan read a piece of paper that was on the couch that I was lying on.
“I need to change out of this…”
I shakily stood to my feet. Each step closer to my closet meant one step closer to turning back to my normal self—
—When Xifan put her hand on my shoulder. I turned around to see her gently smiling face. It had a look that I know all too well. Xifan didn’t want me to change. She also would hug and cuddle me and wouldn’t let me go until either she fell asleep or when Firé wanted to dress me up in something else.
She enjoys it.
She definitely is enjoying it right now.
“We don’t have the time. The customer is waiting~”

While i am still(halfway) through writing the next chapter of AiSekai, I'm still figuring out a way to fit SDL into a proper plot that readers will enjoy.
