1. Thumbnail Database Viewer enables you to view thumbnail cache which is used by Windows to speed up the display of thumbnails in folders (thumbs.db, ehthumbs.db, thumbcache.db files).
  2. Delete thumbs.db and thumbcache.db. You cannot manually delete the thumbcache32.db, thumbcache96.db, thumbcache256.db, thumbcache1024.db, thumbcacheidx.db and thumbcachesr.db files because they are locked. CCleaner has an option to remove Thumbnail cache but it is possible that sometimes it doesn’t work. In one of our test, CCleaner.

This process allows images to display faster because these smaller images do not need to be recalculated every time a user visits the folder containing them.

The hidden file thumbs.db is a database file containing a small JPEG representing each of the thumbnails in a folder. Thumbs.db files are required by Windows to display a thumbnail for each icon. They are created automatically in the same directory as the thumbnails being viewed.

Thumbs Remover will search for Thumbs.db files in entire hard disks (internal or external), pen drives or in single folders and its subfolders; upon completion it will allow you to browse all. Delete Thumbs.db and Desktop.ini from a Mac. Let’s say you share your Mac’s files with a Windows user over a network. Depending on their settings, their Windows PC may generate tons of Thumbs.db files throughout your Mac as the user browses through.

Can it be deleted?
