Nowadays,people are enthusiatic about famous brand's goods, such as Dior, Gucci, etc. They often chase after these branded goods and think that the others are cheap and not fashionable. This current trend shows that people nowadays are more and more materialistic and eventually forget the beauty of many traditional things. The 'Red-White-Blue bag' is a good example.
The‘Red-White-Blue bag’is regarded as a ‘Hong Kong spirit’. The‘Red-White-Blue Bag’is actually a mutipurpose, carryall made of nylon. It is a iconic symbol of ‘made in Hong Kong’. It is famous for strong, muti-purpose, and also, cheap.
To conseve and to promote such an important cultural heritage of Hong Kong, the RED-WHITE BLUE FESTIVAL is now organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board during 11-13 August 2011.

In this festival, the following events will be held:
1. Supermarket GO! GO! GO!
Date: 11 August 2011
Time: 12:30p.m.-2:00p.m.
Venue: Causeway Bay Wellcome
Details: Participants may design and bring their own Red-White-Blue bags. In a limited time, participants need to grap as much goods as they can into their Red-White-Blue bags. The one who get the heaviest goods without breaking their bags will be the winner.
Prize: The winner can get all the goods obtained in their bags.
Aim: To show the strength and durability of the Red-White-Blue bags. Remind people that not all cheap traditional goods are poorer than those new ones
2. Red-White-Blue Fashion Show
Date: 12 August 2011
Time: 1:00p.m.-4:00p.m.
Venue: Hong Kong International & Trade Exhibition Centre
Details: Designers should design their own fashion according to red, white and blue as the main theme. The most creative and stylish work will be the winner.
Prize: The winner can get a sponser from the governement to manufacture the winning work.
Judges: Mr. Donald Tsang, Mr. William Tang, Ms. Joyce Ma
Aim: To promote the cultural heritage of Hong Kong. Showing that clothes made by cheap, everyday materials can also be fashionable.
Deadline for application: 25th July 2011
3. Red-White-Blue Bag Racing!
Date: 13 August 2011
Time: 10:00a.m.-12:00p.m.
Venue: Victoria Park
Details: Althlete can decorate thier own‘Red-White-Blue bag’ with unique decorations. They then stand indise their ‘Red-White-Blue bag’ and jump to the destination. The fastest particiapant and the one with the most creative work can get a prize.
Aim: To show the strength of the ‘Red-White-Blue bag’. To remind the collective memory ‘Red-White-Blue bag’of Hong Kong people.
