meet the press
Well, I'm done for the day, in a train heading back to Saga. It was pretty bleak at times, but I think we did some good work today.
Today we attended a meeting on the nomination of the Kyushu-Yamaguchi Modern Industrial Heritage to the UNESCO World Heritage. NHK Saga was at the press conference held after, so you might see it on the news tonight!
Saga City is pushing for four sites to be added to the nomination: the Tsuiji Reverberatory Furnace, the Tafuse Reverberatory Furnace, the Seiren-kata Research Institute, and the Mietsu Naval Facility. I've become somewhat of an authority on these sites over the course of working on this project, but I'll save explanations of them for later. For now, though, I just want to relax after a hard day's work!

Some ALT friends and I wanted to sign up for the Gatalympics, but we missed the application period! Now we can't participate.
It's so stupid! The application period was from Thursday until Sunday of last week--that's it! None of my friends speak Japanese, so I had to fill out the application form, but I had work all weekend, so I couldn't do it in time.
I just called the Kashima Office about it, and they said we couldn't apply anymore. I tried to tell them it was difficult for me to apply over the weekend, but they wouldn't have any of it.
It really sucks, since me and my friends were looking forward to being in the Gatalympics for a long time. I wanted to participate since I got to Saga last July!
The whole thing is really frustrating.
Anyway, sorry for the rant, but I just needed to get that off my chest.
