U:Oh, I haven’t thought of that possibility.
C:It’s a very real one, I’m afraid. So these days, if there is medical emergency on a plane in flight, all clue members go on high alert for potential security thread.
N:This reminds me of something I’ve heard the other day. Some people seem to think a shortage of doctors here in the U.S. What’s your take on that?
S:There is no simple answer to that question. Some people say there aren’t enough new doctors to keep pace with changing demographics. Baby boomers are getting older and sicker. They are suffering from age-related ailment like arthritis, high blood pressure, diabetes, and cancer.
M:However, another school of thought says there is no shortage of doctors at all. They believe system isn’t undermanned so much as inefficient. We rely too much on physician their theory goal, and not enough on mid-level professionals like physician’s assistants and nurses.
C:It’s also said that we have a poor distribution of physicians. Many want to work in big city, where they can have large practices and make some decent money.
U:Well, I just hope that there are doctors on the plane if I ever had infta?? medical episode.
