this was the last movie Walt Disney actually took part in making...he actually died in the middle of making this...geez he's probably turning over in his grave right now looking at what Disney's become (Hannah Montana, HSM, Sonny With a chance, etc.)
no he died in the middle of making this because i have the special edition VHS version where there's a mini documentry at the end, and it said that they were stuck for an ending, and then walt disney came up with the end they have now, and helped them draw the girl, but died before they got to the animation stages.
and im 15 and im still watching classics like that and i luv them!!

2. The rains came just immediately after Shere Khan ran off still on fire. Wouldn't the rain extinguish the fire immediately, giving Shere Khan the chance to come back quickly?

When I watched this film as a child, some things about Shere Khan puzzled me:
1. I was disappointed that Shere Khan's last line in this film was "Stay out of this, you mangy fools!" while fighting the vultures. I wondered why he couldn't say any words when he realized he was on fire, instead only making growling sounds before running off. Had he lost his voice or something?

I was a big fan of TJB when I was younger, so when this came out, it was like a dream come true. I could not believe I was going to the cinema to see a brand new TJB movie.
All my Dinsey movies are on VHS, and I no longer have a VHS player. Thanks for the upload. I'd love to get every single one of my films that are in the VHS collection on DVD, though, and probably some more from Disney that I only ever rented. I'd love to relive these memories all day.

The "wild" song, at the end of it, reminded me of the lion king's "I just can't wait to be king" because they're making a pyramid, like in the lion king.

Okay... So Shanti had no problem in understanding Baloo... I could understand Mogli being able to, since he was reared by animals, but Shanti shouldn't be able to... Has anyone else picked this up? I mean, at least in Tarzan Jane had to be taught how to understand the apes. Here it's like automatic. They could've had a lot more fun if Mogli had to translate between Baloo and Shanti, plus it'd be more realistic, or true to the story anyway.
Is Mowgli trying to outrun ShereKhan, or am I just dreaming? Because, if he is, that's very stupid. No man could outrun a tiger, let alone a little boy...

Am I the only one that finds something wrong about the fact that two little kids made that jump across easily while the *clears throat* JUNGLE CAT somehow had problems? *sigh* common people at least TRY to make it realistic
I know it's kinda unrealistic for a kids movie, but I was expecting Bagheera to take him on.
Something awesome, like "I wasn't there LAST time, Khan, but I'm here NOW."
And then: big cat VS big cat! He's a goddamned black panther, those guys are supposed to be fierce.
I bet steve irwin had found shere khan in that rock while doing a documentary about wild animals, and picked up shere khan with the helicopter im sure steve would say "crickey! take a look at that tiger! he looks very angry!".
But hopefully we get to see the jungle book 3 trailer and see shere khan climbs out of the lava pit and roars in anger, that would be awesome!!!

Actually, Thurl Ravenscroft is sometimes credited with the singing voice of Shere Khan because he did sing in other songs on the Jungle Book soundtrack. However, from what I've read (mainly on Wikipedia, take that for what it's worth), this was actually Bill Lee, who also sang with the Mellomen, the quartet that recorded this song. I haven't been able to find much information on him, but I have read in multiple sources that Lee, not Ravenscroft did this sing.

Actually, Thurl Ravenscroft is sometimes credited with the singing voice of Shere Khan because he did sing in other songs on the Jungle Book soundtrack. However, from what I've read (mainly on Wikipedia, take that for what it's worth), this was actually Bill Lee, who also sang with the Mellomen, the quartet that recorded this song. I haven't been able to find much information on him, but I have read in multiple sources that Lee, not Ravenscroft did this sing.

i tried showing this movie to my cousin's daughter and she said it was boring and wanted to play her new hannah montana WHATEVER game. i feel so bad for kids these days.. they don't even know how to appreciate the classics ;(
I agree I watch some of today kids shows and most of them have no plots and if they do have plots they are dumb down today's shows look and act like they are on crack always GO GO GO GO GO SO sad T.T

best song ever. i used to sig along with this on caset tape when i was like 5. i would rewind the vhs to sing and dance to the song. to bad one day the VHS broke. now i have dvd thank you modern tech. cartoons now suck compered to this stuff. kids just dont know what they are missing.
