京都府出身、1979年生まれ。現在ドイツ／ベルリン在住の音楽家。大学をクラシックピアノ専攻で卒業した後に、ピアノを始めとするアコースティック楽器に加え、電子音やフィールドレコーディング、サンプリング、ボーカルなどを自在に操りながら多彩な音楽を作り出し、これまでにmidori hiranoとしてはMIDIクリエイティブ／nobleから２枚のアルバムを発表。その他、国内外のレーベルコンピレーションや、アーティストとのコラボレーションにも数多く参加。2008年にリリースされたセカンドアルバム「klo:yuri」は世界的に知られる老舗のニュース雑誌「TIME誌」で取り上げられ、またイギリスの国営放送BBCのラジオ番組でも収録曲およびロンドンで行ったライブについて紹介されるなど、海外のメディアにおいても大きく認知される事となる。また自身の作品制作以外にも、国内外の映画のサウンドトラックを担当するなど映画音楽の分野にも活動の場を広げ、2008年2月にはベルリン国際映画祭主催の若手映画製作者向けプログラム「Berlinale Talent Campus」に作曲家部門では当年唯一の日本人として招聘される。2008年以降はベルリンを拠点にヨーロッパ各地でライブパフォーマンスを数多く行っており、2011年2月にはベルリンの大型フェスティバルClub Transmedialeに、Bernd Friedmann & Jaki Liebezeitのライブ映像を担当しているJeffers Eganと共にオーディオ／ビジュアルセットでの出演を果たし、signal, Deadbeat&Lillevän(ex-Rechenzentrum), Monolake, Tikiman with Scionらとステージを共にする。現在は生楽器を主体にした楽曲を制作するmidori hiranoとしての活動と平行し、コンピュータによるプロセッシング等を多用するなどエレクトロニックミュージック的なアプローチを中心とした新しいソロプロジェクトMimiCofとしてその表現の幅を広げており、2011年6月にはMimiCofとしては初のフルアルバム「RundSkipper」をPROGRESSIVE FOrMよりリリースする。

■「MimiCof」とは：
midori hiranoとしての活動と平行し、コンピュータによるプロセッシング等を多用するなどエレクトロニックミュージック的なアプローチを中心とした新しいソロプロジェクト。
■「RundSkipper」の意味：
ドイツ語で「丸い」を意味するRundを地球と見立てて、「地球をスキップする人」。この作品はアートワークも含めて、東京、ベルリン、米国など地球上の離れた土地にいる人間同士の協力で成り立っているので、そういう意味も含めて考えてつけてみました。
■「RundSkipper」の音楽的なヴィジョン／イメージ：
今回は多様なリズムパターンと電子音に特化したアルバムを作る事で、何らかのイメージを想起させるものよりはむしろ純粋な音世界を見せようと思って作り始めましたが、一曲づつ完成していくにつれて気付いたのは表現の仕方は異なるにせよ自分が以前から発表してきた作品と同じく、太陽の光だったり暮れてゆく空だったり空気の匂いだったり地球上にあふれる根源的な色と息づかいがそこにあって、結局自分が表現したいのはそういうものだったんだということでした。
