Over a long time, jute bag is the main style of bulk grain packaging. Traditional ocher and grey jute bags has been the packaging of rice for a hundred years. The raw material of of jute bags is mainly the jute. Jute is a natural plant fiber tenacity, non-toxic, harmless, after weaved into sacks, the fastness and burst strength are very high. Jute bag has the breathable performance and is good at conducive spaces for food storage, and is also low cost, can be used repeatedly. But jute bag is easy breakage and leakage in the process of transport, susceptible to external contamination, can not match the requirements of preservation of moisture, bacteria, insects and rodents, and other basic demands.
Because of the development of economy,science and technology,the status of jute bag as a bulk packaging has been challenged.In some rural areas,the white plastic(mainly PE) bags are commonly used, then it like to solve the breakage problem,but other problems are still remained. The main problems are single type and old fashion structure of the white PE bags.Jute bags are in the poor situation currently,due to rising raw material costs, not easy to be produced. Meanwhile,there was not any upgrading of the jute bags even in hundreds of years, this is also another important factor of the less production of the jute bags.
The emergence of new packaging materials for the grain is also a shock to status of jute bags as bulk packaging, these are mainly polypropylene woven bags.PP bags are used for grain packaging, this kind of bag has the smooth appearance and low price. Inexpensive enough to be a just one-time using, do not need to be recycled,which has a strong appeal for grain distributors.
Currently, transparent plastic bags made from PE/PP/PA and other compound materials,as well as PP woven bags packed 10-25 kg rice,these are usually used packaging for rice in the market,although not suitable for long-term storage,still could meet the needs of small families,also can prevent the moisture,mildew and pest in short-term,then can meet the consumer psychology.These rice companies started to improve rice packaging from mid-class packaging, and push the rice packaging development.Nowadays,titanium,carbon dioxide and other semiconductors doped polyethylene film as a catalyst into the rice packaging are also used, as incorporated in the catalyst metal and photosynthesis can occur catalytic reactions and photo-chemical reactions.After this polyethylene bags containing rice, because the semiconductor and electronics are activated in a non- equilibrium high fever; barking state in preservation effect.
