Last month, a ride-sharing system started in Japan.
In this system, we do not need a second-category driver's license to carry passengers for a fee.
News articles say self-employed individuals use the system and can earn income from it as a side business.
The system aims to address the lack of drivers for inbound tourists, but taxi driver unions oppose it to protect their rights as professional drivers.
In foreign countries, it is commonplace for people to use the Uber taxi system where drivers do not need special licenses.
The availability of ride-sharing is limited in Japan, and many people hope the regulations will be relaxed.
I would consider this system a promising option for my independent business if it becomes more accessible and easier to use.
