One of my friends and I are planning for climbing of Mt. Fuji, which is the highest mountain in Japan. This is the first time to climb a mountain seriously so I don't have any equipment for it. Then I went to buy pair of shoes in Ochanomizu with my friend. I tried to wear some shoes but they were uncomfortable for me. I don't get used to put a pair of trekking shoes on. Their sole were really hard, they were made for walking and climbing on rocks. But finally I got nice shoes anyway. Their colour is not good though. Wearing comfortable shoes is the most important when we climb mountains, right? I need to get backpack. I'm getting excited and can't wait!

Since I started to learn English by Skype, I have some things I noticed. It might be better to say that it reminds me of how lucky I am put in the situation. My english teachers are living in a developing country, the more we're talking, the more I realise that I am living in lucky circumstances.

The other day, we are talking on Skype about taking a bath. Many Japanese people take a bath, I mean, we get into a tub full of hot water. This is Japanese custom. But she said that rich people only have bathtub in her country. Lying in nice hot bath for some time is really luxury for her. I don't intend to waste water. Because we use the water from the bathtub when we not only rinse off the shampoo and body soup but also do the laundry. But this might be a evidence that I live in a better world that every infrastructure has already improved. Living in a big economic power nation, I take anything for granted though, I should not take everything foe granted.

Thinking of traditional summer events in Japan, what I come to think of first is fireworks festivals. Although there are many other festivals to be held all over Japan such as bon dance or carrying a portable shrine along streets, fireworks festivals are one of most popular events in Japan. The latest fireworks are really sophisticated. We can see not only traditional round shape but also smiling peace mark, characters of Japanese cartoons, the shape of star and they are more colourful than before. Tonight, the Tokyo bay fireworks festival will be held. I'm looking forward to seeing it!
