Recently,numbers of Kabuki performance have been increasing compared to the past.
It's surely a good thing because it gives people more opportunities to see Kabuki plays.But,onthe other hand some actors have to sacrifice their health because they have to substitute for some other actor who gets ill or injured, while playing their own roles too.This is definitely a hard work both physically and mentally considering the fact that Kabuki performance runs about 25days a month,and it's not rare that the same actor plays for continuous months with merely two or three day intervals.
In fact the media have often been reporting health problems of star actors.I think such hard schedules are creating a vicious circle.:-(
