My English teacher recommended that I start blogging! I like writing very much, and I just embarked on a new journey! It's good time to start something new, right? That's why I'm here:)
Today I arrived in Melbourne! I quitted my job last July and came here to get better at English:) It was a really tough call to quit my job and go overseas, but I really wanted to make my life-long dream come true before changing my job:)
At previous workplace ( I used to work for a regional bank) I didn't have any opportunity to speak English at all...so I started to think about getting a new job that requires English :)
Today I flied from Itami to Narita, and then I had a LONG flight from Narita to Melbourne.. in total, maybe it took over 18hours! There is almost no time difference between Australia and Japan ( technically speaking, just an hour) so coming to Aus is not as uncomfortable as going to Europe or America, when it comes to jet lag. but I'm still very tired now.
What was most surprising to me was that it was unbelievably cold outside here! I can't believe it! It's almost like a winter! I was glad to bring a coat for winter.... I couldn't go out without it. It was very windy today. I can still hear the sound of wind.
Anyway, I safely arrived at my host family's house. She is quite nice, kind and very talkative. But to be honest, her English is quite hard to catch. She is originally from UK and moved to New Zealand when she got married, and then came to Melbourne. So she said that her English is mixed with British one, New Zealand one, and Australian one!
Especially when she spoke to neighborhoods, I had no idea what they were talking about. I'm quite new to Melbourne, so I couldn't keep up with the speed they speak..... she introduced me to his son, who works for a nearby cafe, but I couldn't talk with him so much:( I couldn't join their conversation.....
I felt bad, so I texted some friends and teachers. They all encouraged me and said I would get used to it. I'm very glad to have good friends and teachers.....
