I slept at around 11pm and got up at around 8:30!:)
I had a good sleep, but I was waken up a few times in the middle of the night by the sound of the wind outside! It's very windy today as well..
I had nothing to do, so I went to Woolworths to get a SIM card. To be honest I wanted to get one from amaysim, but it seemed like Vodafone one was better( 9GB $40, compared to 7GB $39.95 from Amaysim )so I decided to get a Vodafone one! I used a self cash machine . It just took a time for activating with Vodafone, but I was a little upset whether I pushed a wrong button. ( the rump turned red, so I wondered if I did something wrong!) I asked a staff, but she said a cash machine was just activating with Vodafone:) it's a relief!
I was surprised to see that vegetables and fruits are very cheap! I think I can get a lot of vegetables here:) and also fruits:)
On my way to the grocery store, I saw a bird with black and white. It was a crow maybe? But I'm not sure. I'll ask host mother later.
I found that there is no parking lots for bicycle. In Japan, it's common for people living in the place that is far from the station to get there by bicycle. They borrow a parking space and pay for it monthly.
How do such kind of people get to the station here in Aus? I'll ask her about this as well. Chris said that it's hard to get to various places by bicycle in Aus, so he didn't use it on a daily basis. Maybe it's not so common to get a bicycle in Aus..
It's SO cold and dry here. Now I'm dying for hotness and humidity in Japan...!
My mother looked tired today. She said she didn't sleep well last night because of the sound of the wind.
We drive to the station and took a train for the city. She led me to the school I'm going to from tomorrow.
After we said goodbye at southern cross station, I went to Vodafone next to the exit of the station. I got a phone number, but I couldn't connect with Internet. The staff at Vodafone dealt with my problem very quickly! I got an internet connection in less than a min:) amazing! From now on I can use Internet anywhere I want!
I joined a meetup at a cafe with a good view over a harbor:) actually it was hard to get there because I'm quite new to Melbourne! I tried to ask the direction to the cafe on a street, but all of passersby seemed quite busy! I couldn't ask any of them , so I reached the cafe by myself. :)
I met 2 locals there. They were quite nice, but it was very difficult to keep up with the speed they spoke......
my problem is defiantly listening!
I enjoyed a coffee with good view, and the he took me to another meetup,
The meetup was held at a library, and the purpose of it was to share a lot of thoughts and interesting things with people who have creative thinking. Almost all people seemed to be locals, so it's very difficult to keep up with them.... but I tried to talk! I didn't wanna be an anonymous!
I tried to leave some impression on them!
I talked about same sex marriage in Aus and Japan, shyness of Japanese, formality , price of vegetable and fruit , and so on! It was very interesting!
I found that in this country everyone can speak English. Being able to speak English is not a strong point. I can't become a native speaker. So what is my advantage or strong point as a Japanese? It's that I was born and raised in Japan and I know a lot of things about Japan! From now on I'll try to keep learning about Japanese culture as well and practice explaining it in English:) I'll make people I'll meet in Aus a big fan of Japan!
