It's been a loooong loooong time since I made the last post on this blog. I'm sorry about that. The worst point was that I said I was gonna write what I studied for Eiken pre 1 but I completely forgot it.haha
最後のポストからほんとに長い間が経ってしまいました。すみません。英検準一級の勉強について書くって言ったのに忘れてて最悪ですね。
So, more than 2 years have passed since I passed the Eiken pre 1 test. Time flies! First of all, I gotta explain about my last 2 years.
それから２年も経ってしまいました。時間経つの早い！まず、ここ２年間について説明しなきゃですね。
After the Eiken, I entered the university in Tokyo which was famous for its education on English. In most of the universities, students have English classes and study English as a foreign language. However, in my uni, students study a variety of subjects IN English. We discuss things IN English. Therefore, for now, English is just a tool to communicate and at the same time, a part of my life.
英検のあとは、英語で有名な東京の大学に進学しました。普通の大学では、英語の授業があり、英語を外国語として学びますが、私の大学では、英語で色んな教科を学んだり、ディスカッションをします。だから、今では、英語はコミュニケーション手段であり、生活の一部です。
I managed to survive the freshman year... It was really tough. Students were classified into the English classes of four levels. I got in the second one. Almost all of the other students in the second level were 帰国子女, so i had a really tough time. They speak English without thinking in their brains. It's like, for them, the words or the sentences come out naturally as they speak. At first, I just thought I had been assigned to the completely wrong place. Throughout the two terms, I was stimulated a lot by my classmates. I learnt form them when you speak English, it is better not to try to construct the sentences grammatically. Try to let the words come out naturally. (It sounds nonsense, right? lol) Once I realize it, i had a breakthrough in my speaking skill.
一年生をなんとか生き残りました。本当につらかったです。生徒は４つのレベルの英語クラスに分けられます。私は２つ目でした。２つ目のレベルでは、ほとんどの生徒が帰国子女だったので、私には大変でした。みんな考えることなく英語をしゃべるんです。その子たちにとっては、話すと、言葉とか文が自然とでてくるみたいな。最初は完全に場違いなクラスに入っちゃったよって思いました。２学期間を通して、そのクラスメートにたくさん刺激を受けました。彼らから学んだのは、英語を話すとき、文法的に文を組み立てようとしないほうが良いということでした。言葉が自然と出てくるように頑張るんです。(意味わかんないですよね笑)それに気付いてから、スピーキングスキルがすごくあがりました。
Last Summer, I stayed in Oxford for one and a half month! It was fun! I went to the language school on weekdays to study English and went to many places in England on weekends.
This Summer, I studied in the university in the US for summer. This was the first time for me to study in the university outside of Japan. Before taking the classes, I thought I had no difficulties in understanding English but it was wrong! Listening to the lectures in English is one thing and understanding them is another! I was able to hear the words the teacher was saying but was not always able to get what exactly he was talking about. Since I am planning to study in a foreign university for a year in the future, i have to overcome it somehow.
去年の夏は、オックスフォードに一ヶ月半滞在しました。楽しかったです！平日は語学学校に行き、休日はイギリス色んなところに行きました。
今年の夏は、アメリカの大学で夏の間勉強しました。日本の外の大学で勉強するのは初めてでした。授業受ける前は、英語での授業なんか大丈夫って思ってましたが、違いました。英語の講義を聞くのと理解するのは別物ですね！教授が言ってる単語は聞き取れるけど、何について話してるのか全部はわからなかった。一年留学も考えてるから、なんとか克服しないと。
So, those are the stories of my last two years!
これが二年間の話ですね！
In three days, I'll take an IELTS test. I took it before and my score was overall 6.5. Not bad but not enough. Since I prepared nothing last time, I hope this time it will be better.
３日後、アイエルツ受けます。前に受けたんですけど、オーバーオール6.5でした。悪くはないけど、足りないかな。前回は何も準備しなかったから、今回はもうちょっと良いといいな。
