Lucky and Unlucky days in Calendar
When we decide something onmemorial days like a wedding ceremony or getting a new car, many of Japanese think about when lucky and unlucky days are and see a calendar.I will explain about six days such as lucky and unlucky days today.Six days are "先勝＝Sakigachi", "友引＝Tomobiki", "先負＝Sakimake", "仏滅＝Butsumetsu", "大安＝Taian" and "赤口＝Shakko".It is said to come from China, but we don't know about it particulally. However, our furtunes are decided when good or bad days areby this six days.We usually don't care about it, but when we determine something big in our lives, we tend to give consideration to it.Well, what are the meanings of them?1. "先勝＝Sakigachi" 先saki means tip, former and before, and 勝kachi does win, victory. So the former of a day is a victory... If you do something in the morning, you can get a good result.2."友引＝Tomobiki" 友tomo means a friend, 引(く） does to draw, pick up. Almost the day is lucky except for the afternoon, but it means "draw a friend", so we don't have a funeral ceremony on this day.3."先負＝Sakimake" 先saki means tip, former and before, and 負make does loss and defeat. So the former of a day is loss... If you do something in the afternoon, you can get a good result.4."仏滅＝Butsumetsu" 佛butsu means Buddhist, and 滅metsu does death, destruction and fall. So all the day is unlucky. We had better not do anything on this day.5."大安＝Taian" 大tai means all, everything, and 安an does stability and peaceful. So all the day is good, lucky.6."赤口＝Shakko" 赤shaku means red→we imagine a fire, 口kou does a mouth. So almost the day is not good, unlucky, but better than 仏滅butsumetsu.This is one of our calenders....We decide something whether we will do or not, while looking at a calender.今晩は。今日は仏滅ってどんな日？って聞かれました。すごいなあ、そんなことまで興味があるって・・・。 ということで、六曜について説明しました。大安とか、仏滅とか、だいぶ気にしなくなっていたような・・・。結婚式とか、車の納車の日くらいかなあ？なんて思いながら、書きました。今日、友だちとギフト交換をすることにしました。ある程度、予算を決めてのギフト交換。デンマークのお友達は日本のいろんな種類のポッキーとアロマのお香が欲しいと言われたので、大きな段ボール一箱分のポッキーとアロマのお香を送りました。代わりに、私はデンマークの一般家庭にあるものをお願いしたのですが、どんな物が届くかな～～。楽しみです。
