started in a small way, making clothes for
a few people, but then she had a piece of luck.
An important Japanese film producer saw one
of her design and loved it. He called Hanae.
“Could you make some clothes for my next film?”
he asked.
Hanae said “Yes” without even thinking about it.
Over the next six years, she made clothes for
many
Japanese films and worked with people like
Yasujiro
Ozu and Nagisa Oshima.
In Japan it was a time when people were building
the economy again after the war.

彼女は小さな形で始めました、そして

彼女のデザインを見て、気に入りました。
彼は英恵に電話しました。
「私の次の映画に幾つか着物を作ってくれま
せんか？」と彼は聞きました。
それに続く６年以上もの間、彼女は沢山の
日本映画に着物を作り、御豆安二郎や大島渚
の様な人々と仕事をしました。
当時の日本は、戦後再び経済を築き上げていた
時代でした。
