Minneapolis-based Target new balance sale Corp. is commemorating Earth Day this year as it did in 2012 by giving away reusable bags filled with environmentally-friendly products. On April 21, Target will hand out 1.5 million bags filled with samples of Method dish soap, Annie’s graham crackers, Seventh Generation laundry detergent and Burt’s Bees moisturizing cream, along with coupon books offering discounts on other sustainable products. The retailer offers a five-cent reusable bag discount year round and in the past year, its customers have used more than 80 million reusable bags instead of paper or plastic bags, according to the company.
Other sustainability initiatives at Target include participation in the EPA’s SmartWay Transportation Partnership, which includes an annual carbon footprint assessment for its domestic transportation operations; improvements in package sustainability for Target’s private-label goods; and recycling kiosks in its stores. “For Target, sustainability goes New Balance 720 Sale beyond Earth Day. By providing guests with free reusable bags and rewarding them each time they use their reusable bags … Target helps guests make a small difference every time they shop at our stores,” a Target spokesman says.
