There's an economic crisis. The only really good looking animes are from Madhouse. All the rest are too clean. It's not just the Japanese though, western animation has took a dumb aswell compared to the 00s. Those cartoons looks more dumbed down and worse looking than anything..

Apparently this takes place is in a universe where the United States doesn't enter either World War One or World War Two, Japan is an Allied Power, and Germany conquers Japan, and even uses nukes (hinted by the image of a mushroom cloud in one of the movies)... ...I think the guys at Talkerate History need to check this..

Je viens de regarder le filme pour ce que ça intérèsse, il n'y a pas beaucoup d'action plus une espece de comédie romantique mais avec pas mal d'action quand même, mais beaucoup moins comme on l'imagine, et j'ai adoré ce filme, j'ai un petit pincement au coeur en me disant qu'il est finis, peut-être il y aura t-il une suite ? Mais je ne pense vraiment pas..
A fast-action thriller set in the near future. Excellent performances by the principal actors helped by an excellent script and cinematography. In real life, the lead actor is a former South Korean Army soldier, and the lead actress is the daughter of a senior South Korean military officer. This possibly helped them give strong performances in a military-esque type of drama. And they are both tall; quite tall for Asian actors. I'm not sure if tall Asian actors are now being pushed in thrillers because they will come across better to international audiences or not. But these two certainly have potential for international success.
The only reason I gave this movie a 9 rather than a 10 is because there is a contrivance at the end. Spoiler Alert!!! The noble leader of the renegade group of law enforcement reformers is obviously quite insightful and intelligent. So why would he want to kill off the heroine at the end, knowing she had to do what she did to save her very physically-ill younger brother? This was obviously done to set up a big, impressively-choreographed fight between the group leader and the hero over the heroine's fate. Everything worked out in the end, but I thought the writer could have done a better job of finishing the story without making the group leader have a temporary mental lapse near the end.
This movie, like the outstanding "Train To Busan," shows that Hollywood better pay close attention to South Korean film makers, especially pertaining to thrillers..

It seems the movie didn't work well in Korea, and I remember watching the Jin roh animé as a kid and didn't like it that much. However I really enjoyed this movie, yeah the romance part might a bit long but also has some purpose in building the final climax. I liked the quality of the movie action scene, simple and without CG. A really good action movie with an intriguing setup. I felt entertained..
@benitofinito 1) This Movie franchise existed long before Jin Roh. 2) Japan does not care for PC. They worship War Criminals as gods, for crying out loud. You have no idea what this movie is about and lecture people on stuff you have no understanding of. It might be your opinion that it sucks, but I get the feeling, there was a severe lack of explosions and bloodshed to keep your ADD from kicking in. This is viewed as masterpiece by a lot of professional critics, whether you like it or not..

Watched it about 15 years ago, and never forgot about it. Still one of the best anime I've ever seen. There are great anime out there today but I miss Animes like Akira, Ghost in the shell, Blue Submarine No. 6, Jin-Roh... .
I was a big fan of the Jin Roh name. Storytelling at its best. The beginning of the film felt just like watching the anime but in live action. The extra action is welcome but felt a bit redundant after awhile. But the ending. Why the happy ending? The original is still far superior due to the tragic and realistic ending. Didn't care for that at all really....

Hi, this is an awesome anime full of metaphors but there is one thing i did not fully understand. What does Fuse being a Beast inside means? Is he a killer inside? A soldier that must follow his duty no matter what? Or is this a thing of Fuse actually being a supernatural being, a wolf disguised as man? What did everyone think?.
