...this post is quite long because i transcipt some parts of what Pastor Prince preached on "How worship puts you in a receiving mode of God's wisdom" 28 May 2006
I think this message is so applicable to you now so i will just go ahead and write down what i believe can actually bless you.. dun blame me if there are any mistake cos Pastor really speak much faster than i can type.
How
Praise and Worship brings a degree of wisdom that you never knew
possible, where you operate effortlessly in the wisdom of God, where
you begin to tap into the intelligence of your God because
Jesus is wisdom. Wisdom is not an it, wisdom is a He. And He abides in
you. The moment you embrace Jesus Christ, He abides in you. We saw last
week that we got to learn to be more intuitive, learn to follow the
peace or the absence of peace. But today, we are going to share with
you some practical things about how to tap into that wisdom that is
inside you already if you are a believer.
You
know that the bible says that God gave Solomon wisdom. 1Kings 4. Now
the first 3 words are very important. Solomon did not go to school or
some university to learn wisdom. He did not cultivate by himself that
wisdom. The bible says God gave. And everyone says "and God gave". You
don't have wisdom; God can give it to you, amen?
God
gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness
of heart like the sand on the seashore. Thus Solomon's wisdom excelled
the wisdom of all the men of the East and all the wisdom of
Why would the Holy Spirit takes the trouble to mention these people by name? Ethan,
Heman, Chalcol and Darda, the sons of Mahol. Why would the Holy Spirit
take the time to mention them by name? Did you know that all these
people are worship leaders? Did you know that they are all people that
lead in praise and worship, leading the people of God into the presence
of God? Heman, Ethan, Chalcol and Darda, sons of Mahol, Mahol in
Hebrews means the sons of the DANCE, Mahol means DANCE. And they are
all involved in Praise and Worship. But the bible says Solomon was
wiser than all of them. But mark this until Solomon came on the scene,
they were the wisest in the land. And they were from the time of David,
Solomon's father. In other words David who had many people under his
rule at that time, he had mighty men that surrounded him who were also
giant killers like him. As the leader, so goes the people. Amen? They
caught his anointing. And they were also giant killers. But none of
them is mentioned in the bible as wise. Amen.
And then we have people who are builders, in fact it was King David that gave the blueprint for the
All these people, of all the people in the
Worship ushers you into the presence, the manifest presence of God.
You see, the Lord is with us; He will never leave us nor forsake us.
But the Lord's manifest presence is something you can see tangibly. You
can see God's presence and glory on people. You can see sometimes when
I spend time with certain ones, alright. I can sense the glory of God
on that person. It makes me hungry for the presence of God.
The
bible says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. This phrase
was repeated in the book of wisdom/the book of proverbs. Proverbs
9:10-11 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the
knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For by me, by this fear
of the Lord, your days will be multiplied. And not only will you have
multiplied days, years of life will be multiplied to you. In other
words, your years will be full of life. Not just long life, but full of
life... years of life. No point having a long life if it's miserable. A
long good life! And it comes through the fear of the Lord. Don't let
any preacher tells you this fear of the Lord means you are afraid of
God. In fact, Jesus Himself defined for us what is the fear of the
Lord. Because in the temptation when the devil tempted Jesus to worship
him, Jesus answered "Thou shall worship the Lord thy God", in fact He
said "it is written". He was quoting from the Old Testament book of
Deuteronomy, where actually when you look at it, it says "Thou shall
fear the Lord". But Jesus paraphrase that giving us the true meaning of
the fear of the Lord, He said Thou shall worship the Lord.
Jesus said the fear of the Lord is the worship of the Lord. So when you say the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, that means when you worship God, wisdom begins. You might not be in the know now, but you will be when you worship the Lord. This truth is detrimental to your ignorance. Haha
When
you worship God, you have to utter words to God. There are words of
praise, words of admiration to God… whatever you feel in your heart.
You won't be fulfilled until you said it to the Lord. Sometimes having
a worship song like what we sang just now "You are my hiding place…"
which is actually the words of David that is inspired by God's spirit.
You can borrow those words and sing to the Lord. But worship is not
just words but also music.
In the bible, worship is always uttering words of praise as well as godly music, anointed music.
I
tell you something, the more you learn to sing songs to God, or even
speak songs of praise for those who are not musically inclined; the
bible says you are filled with the spirit.
Pastor
now shared about some things he do before handling some situation as a
Pastor. He needs wisdom to help him to make the right decision.
Ephesians 5:15-19
See than that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time,
because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand
what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which
is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one
another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making
melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God….
God
wants you to redeem the time. Notice it is as wise redeeming the time.
Don't walk as fools you waste time. When you walk as wise, you are
redeeming the time. The word redeem is the same like when Jesus
redeemed us from the curse, He bought us from the slave market with a
price. Do you know that all the lost time that has gone can be redeemed? How do you redeem it? Redeem means what? To buy with a price. What is the price? Wisdom.
The only way for you to redeem the time is with wisdom.
Not as fools but as wise redeeming the time because the days are evil.
Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord
is. Looks like the Holy Spirit is pounding home that He wants us to be
wise the New Testament way.
How to walk in that wisdom? Now this word be filled with the spirit
is passive command in the Greek. It is not you fill yourself (active
command) but it is allow yourself to be filled with the Spirit. How do you allow yourself to be filled with God's Spirit?
---- Speaking in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. Notice, words of praise and music going together. The
bible says the moment you utter songs of praise, like what we did just
now. Do you know you are being filled with the Holy Spirit?
Speaking
in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in
your heart to the Lord. That means when you wake up in the morning, you
go like this… --- "You are my hiding place…" or find a song you know
and just start singing the song and then the song will lead you to
spirit songs. (Meaning singing in tongues)
And what is going to happen? When you are making music in your heart and singing to the Lord freely,
the bible says you are being filled with the Spirit. And when are
filled with the Spirit, you will not be unwise but you will understand
the will of the Lord is…
Don't think you have to sing like Adeline or ANGIE; God says speaking in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs…
There is something powerful about Praise Songs and Music…
Pastor now talks about left brain and right brain
Brain
surgeons have found out that there are 2 sides to our brain. God made
our brain…Left brain and Right Brain. Left brain are people who are
very analytical. This is the part of the brain in the Greek where you
get the word logic in Greek. On the right side of your brain is more
creative, more abstract. But the left brain is more deductive,
analytical and that is the part where you worry.
The bible says the spirit of wisdom operates via your right brain.
Ephesians 1:17-19
God gives to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened… EYES means what? To see. The word understanding
is the right part of your brain. God says when the spirit of wisdom is
given to you, your imagination begins to see. You can see a bright
future, you can see the provisions. Jesus says don't stay in the realm of deduction and analysis,
what shall we eat? Where is the supply going to come from? That is the
left part of the brain working. The left part is the part that worries.
The right brain is where the spirit of wisdom, notice when the spirit
of wisdom is given to you, the eyes of your understanding being
enlightened… Filled with Light! You begin to see what God wants you to
see!
Do you know what is one of the most powerful tools you can ever use to activate your right brain? One is praying in tongues. Remember
that Adam had a mind where God told him to name all the million of
animals, insect, and creeping things… imagine the million of them… And
after he named all of them to the last one, he is able to call forth
the first one by memory again. He is able to remember all their names.
That was the mind Adam had before he fell. Today, we are very quick to
say I'm forgetful. But we should not be confessing the curse. Christ
has redeemed us from the curse.
Research
has shown we only used 10% of our brain. That means 90% is not being
used. Some years ago, the Holy Spirit spoke to me. He said the more you pray in tongues, the more you activate the 90% which has not activated. I
said explain to me some more. He asked me how many gifts are mentioned
in 1 Corinthians. I said 9 gifts. 9 fruits of the spirit, 9 gifts of
the spirit. He said all my gifts are to provide for what you lack.
The more you pray in tongues, your mind comes alive!
But one of the most powerful tools you can use is music. Music exercises the right side of your mind. I must tell you it's the right kind of music… Anointed Music.
Pastor now talked about how some people just love sad songs…
It
is not good. By sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken. By broken
spirit it dries the bones. But a merry heart does good like medicine. Having a melody in your heart to the Lord will cause your whole body to come alive!
Surround yourself with Godly Music.
It's ok once in a while you listen to some rock music etc…I like to
listen to Bryan Adams once a while. My stable diet is not Bryan Adams.
Don't make it your stable diet. Because there is something about music
that can make you melancholic.
The
bible says King Saul one day he was melancholic, he was sad, he was
feeling the blues, and evil spirit came on him. This time he was
troubled by an evil spirit. And then one of his men, having discernment
about the situation said "Get now for you a skillful man on a harp…"
And one of them said "I saw a Bethelemite a young shepherd boy…and the
Lord is with Him" So Saul said get him here. The phrase says when that
spirit was upon Saul, that David would take the harp and play it
with his hands then Saul would become refreshed and well and the evil
spirit will depart from him.
In
the young's translation, it says an evil spirit of sadness came on
Saul. It's an evil spirit. When people feel depressed, they feel
melancholic, that's work of evil spirits. Stop listening to songs that
makes you feel the blues…
The
bible said as David played, Saul would become refreshed and well. Which
one comes first? The spirit left him and then he was refreshed and
well? OR he was refreshed and well and the evil spirit COULD NOT stayed
on. He was refreshed and well!! What cause him to be refreshed and well? THE ANOINTED MUSIC. The
moment your inner man feels peaceful, the evil spirits cannot remain on
people who are peaceful. He was refreshed and well first then the evil
spirit left.
