If using the plastic bar clamps that come with it, definitely make sure not to over tighten the hex key bolts they will break without warning. I does say right on them in the plastic not to over tighten. I havnt had it long enough for a full review however my initial feelings are good. The good: Inexpensive Easy install Locks Tamper proof mounting hardware Securely holds my rods and reels As advertized The bad: Mounting brackets are plastic and im curious how long they can hold up to the heat, cold and uv over time. Some concern that it might rust over time with some connector parts looking like ungalvanized steel, but we'll see. And that's not different than Thule or Yakima etc. Mine came missing mounting hardware and the lower portion of brackets. And it is apparently not available for any customer service from Amazon to remedy (how would I know this?) they will only let me return it entirely which seems like a waste of time and jet fuel. I contacted Rhino Rack directly to see if they can help me out, otherwise I will probably look for some right-sized u-bolts or scavenge similar parts from another rack. Jim Heale 3.0 out of 5 stars Shipped incomplete - bad manufacturer response I received this unopened and, after installing it, discovered that there are two separate keys that are required to lock it. This seems redundant. Worse, only one set of keys were provided therefore I could only lock one side and the instructions specifically state that you MUST lock it to use it correctly. Since I couldn't lock the other side, I went skiing anyway and hoped for the best. Everything worked great and I was satisfied with the look, quality, and usability of the product. However, they never responded to my two attempts to contact them regarding the missing set of keys. I don't plan on returning this to Amazon, but will if they don't get their customer service team operating and responding to my requests (it's been a week now). Steel 1 4.0 out of 5 stars Once installed unit works. Unit grips the outside of the crossbars, does not slide into the grove like other accessories. The grips that hold on to the crossbars really need some type of anti slip backing. I cut up a rubber matt about 1/8th of an inch thick and stuck it to the pieces that hold the unit on the crossbars. This really keeps the unit in place for my fishing rods. Skis are sturdier so they may not need this extra non-slip addition. Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2019 |

I have a Jeep Renegade and got a 99 buck cross bars (here on Amazon) that have ended up being a great product and this fits perfect along with the smaller THULE cargo carrier. This allows us to put two sets of X country skis on it and that is perfect for us. We do have to put the poles in the box, but that's OK too. This is a pretty high quality product for a decent price. The product is always extremely difficult to open and the keys do not fit well in the cylinders. Over the past two months, with nominal use, I have both keys provided break off in the cylinder rendering this product unusable. The cherry on the cake however is that you cannot buy extra keys - they make you replace the entire cylinder/lock. So, instead of a couple bucks to cut a key - you are out $50+ to get new locks. Not only will my husbands snowboard not fit into this rack but I tried my smaller board as well thinking maybe it's just the size of his board and wouldn't you know my board won't fit in it either.
