2025年となりました。
今年は、歯科矯正学において現在用いられている矯正装置（THE EDGEWISE APPLIANCE）の原型がEH Angleにより発表され100年（On June 2, 1925 at the Fourth Annual Meeting of the Edward Angle Society of Orthodontists.）。
記念の年です。

【以下、やや専門的な話です。】
1925年に発表されたのはこの装置（THE EDGEWISE APPLIANCE）の概念（講演発表）。私が矯正歯科を学んだ米国（OHSU）では1925年を起源として教えていました。下記参考文献1.2.3.でも同様です。
EH Angleはこの時すでに70歳、A Brodieが装置の開発に協力し、この装置で初めて治療したのもA Brodieたそうです（参考文献3.）。私がOHSUで学んだ1990年当時のインストラクター（の一人）が「私はBrodieに直接指導を受けた。だから君たちはBrodieの孫弟子だ。」と言っていたことを思い出します。
その後、論文（Angleの文献4.～7.）にされたのは1928～29年のことです。日本の歯科矯正学の教科書ではこの年を起源としています。 この論文はC Tweedの助けがあったそうです（参考文献3.）。
Angle先生、Brodie先生、Tweed先生、皆、矯正歯科草創期の重要な役割を果たした人物です。
