Teacher evaluation

I can clearly see that Japanese media has increased their criticism on Japanese teacher's physical punishment since the suicide by a junior high school students in Otsu-chity. Accordingly, the suicide occurred last year in Sakuranomiya high school also triggered the blast of the public anger toward people who dedicate public education.

Toru Hashimoto, the head of Osaka prefecture, has decided to incorporate a teacher evaluation system in the field of public education.

I do support if the system is valid and worth to meet the needs of stakeholders, but as far as I can see, the incorporation of the system will draw some controversies from a number of field.

Certainly, evaluation is not necessary but it can be one of choices to improve the quality of the Japanese education. However, if the evaluation is merely used as just a method of releasing the stress of students during their daily lives, incorporation should be reconsidered again.

Hypothesis 1 about listening music during study

My parents used to tell me during study "you cannot focus on study if you listening to music."

The previous statements stacked in my head and still I am keep asking to myself "why shouldn't?"

Because of my learning TESOL, the semantics realized me that associations between meanings and a word. For example, "association" is a word constructed with 11 letters and contains the meaning of "an idea or a memory that is suggested by somebody/something; a mental connection between ideas" (AOD, 2012). Also, in the large classification, types of music are limited only to: music with lyrics and only melody. In most of the case, classic music is only composed by the sounds created by several instruments. On the other hand, music, for example my favorite artist Jason Mraz's song "a beautiful mess", is built with a number of beautiful rhetorics and implications.

The key point is your attempt of interpretation of rhetorics and implications that the composure made. While listening to music, the listener attempt to make association between lyrics and meaning. In other words, cognitive functions or mental processes try to make an association during listening music.

In this sense, hypothetically what my parents said was right. My attention went off toward making an association instead of studying.

Therefore, according to my hypothesis, i recommend you to listen to music that does not include lyrics for your deep concentration. Or, if you get bored from studying and wanna pretend as if you are studying, you should listen to Jason.

Dok-do and Takeshima

I hate giving political opinions cuz no matter how good I state them in the end it goes against with someone.

But as a person living in the Asian Pacific region, I think I have a responsibility to show my attitude toward this problem. The following paragraph is my opinion toward an issue being debated by Japanese, Chinese and Korean.

It is a crash of emotion emerging out from greediness. China, South Korea, and Japan, those three Asian countries are claiming their position over the other two countries in order to inform their right of owning a small island. The island called Takeshima island in Japanese, Dok-do in Korean is the main case of the conflict involving those countries. The issue gets complicated due to also complicated historical background among the three countries. Most claims from a country to the others include irrational logic. Rather than logical discourse among the countries in order to solve this issue, opinions are likely to compose negative feeling against the other countries. When you say an opinion, please take a breath and stand a point where the other countries are standing. Don’t think about your own profit. It might sound like a dream but I prefer to share the small island by the three countries rather than increasing hatred toward the others.
