I had never read any of the books but had heard about it. What can I say I actually really enjoyed it apart from a few things (btw I have a 29 year old son so I'm no teen.
My favourite characters were Edward played by Robert Pattison I can definitely see why the teenage girls lust after him.
Jasper he never looked 'constipated' at all to me as said in other reviews but kinda haunted and probably the most believable out of all the Cullins, although he did kinda remind me of a young Harpo Marx.
Charlie Swan because his acting was very believable.
I have watched and enjoyed vampire movies since I was young and they were NOT vampires!
1. They looked as though they had more of a skin disorder than anything else, Michael Jackson was paler and he was no vampire.
2. Spiderman and Superman had similar powers etc speed, strength, being able to leap tall buildings and they were no vampires.
3. Drinking blood of animals well I have friends who like their steak rare and I can tell you there ain't much difference and they're not vampires.
I can put up with all of the above but NOT the sparkly body thing it was horrendous and a blasphemy to vampires everywhere. I know the audience is mainly made up from teens but if your gonna make out the Cullins are vampires you gotta keep at least some of the lore plzzzz. My skin burns more in the sun than Edwards did and Im no vampire either.
The Cullins are a squeaky clean family that most communities would be proud to have, I've heard some horrendous stories about neighbours from hell, the Cullins keep themselves to themselves never bother anyone and are immaculate in appearance.
Everyday we are faced with paedos, rapists, murderers and terrorists and Edward says he's the 'monster' who should be scared of who here. He is the kinda boyfriend most mothers would love to see their daughter dating.
Vampires are supposed to be at least a little scary!
Kirsten Stewarts acting, maybe she was told to act like that but it drove me mad she certainly showed little or no emotion as you would expect from other girls her age.
But on saying that I really enjoyed it and will look forward to seeing New Moon although I shall wait till there are no screaming swooning teens around.
