It is generally believed that some people are born with certain talents, for instance for sport or music, and others are not. However it is sometimes claimed that any child can be taught to become a good sports person or musician.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
My Answer
As certain talents are invisible and abstract concept, it is difficult to conclude whether any child becomes excellent sports player or musician, regardless of the talents which is given by nature. Personally, I want to believe every child can become a good sports player, but actually, I assume that children need special talent to become that kind of person.
Obviously, being taught and trained well are essential to become any kind of specialist and they seem to prove that any child can obtain the incredible skill by hard practice. Moreover, some people insist that too many people use the word “talent” only as an excuse to their lack of discipline, effort and good coach.
Nevertheless, as far as I am concerned, I have seen plenty of people who made enormous effort for training with good sports trainer but resulted in a less skilful player than an ordinary person can be. Likewise, since we have different features in terms of our bodies and appearances, it is natural to say that our ability to improve and learn how to act in certain situation can be attributed to our genetic characteristics. It would be the same case as no one can grow up taller than 2 meters by eating special food.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that without talent, no one would be an excellent sports person or musician, but meanwhile without training and being taught in good way, no one also could become one. Therefore we need to bear in mind that until we recognize the talents of children, adults should encourage to bring up their potential talents.
