Inside a Wednesday blog publish, Armando Salguero from the Miami Herald mentioned with confidence the Whales “are not likely to trade up” for Tannehill. While Salguero concedes the Fins think an adequate amount of Tannehill to draft him using the eighth pick, they apparently don’t fear another team leapfrogging in to the top seven to secure 2010 third-ranked signal caller.
Per Salguero, the Whales consider Tannehill a “project.” Teams don’t typically view developmental projects as worth top-ten picks, but Miami includes a built-in advantage because it’s running virtually exactly the same offense by which Tannehill performed in the college level.
Therefore, Tannehill could have a better opportunity to thrive using the Whales, and repay like a top-eight pick down the road.
