Track and Field National Inter-Prefectural Women's Ekiden (14th, Kyoto City Takebishi Stadium Kyoto departure/arrival = 9 sections 42.195 km) - Miyagi took first place in the final 9 sections with a time of 2 hours 16 minutes 30 seconds for the second time in 29 years won the championship. Kyoto was second with a 20 second difference, and Hiroshima was third. Osaka, aiming for a consecutive victory, finished in 6th place.
In the second section, Japanese record holder Nozomi Tanaka (Hyogo/New Balance) won the section award in the 1,500m and 5,000m, and Drury in Okayama. Shu Eiri (Okayama/Tsuyama High School) was 5th in the section.
