時間があったので、生ゴミを出してからカラスの動向をにらんでいました。
すごく器用にゴミの山にかけられた大きなアミをはぐっていくんですね。
二度ほど走っていって追い払い、アミをかけなおしましたが、全くのいたちごっこ。
そのうち若い男の子が自転車で来て、ゴミをポンとアミの上に放り投げて行くではありませんか。
カラスを追いかけず、男の子を追いかけようかと思いました。
しかし、こんな終わりのないことに終始しているわけにもゆかず、
二度目に追い払った時、すぐ近くでねこをにらんでいたカラスに語りかけてみました。
「散らかしたら駄目でしょう。悪いことばっかりしたら嫌われるんだよ。
雨がふっているんだから、ミミズでも取って食べなさいな。」
カラスは頭を右左に傾け、なかなか愛らしい格好で私の独り言を聞いているようでした。
-ミミズが住む土をすっかりアスファルトで固めておいて良く言うよ。
人間が無駄にした食べられるものを食べて何が悪いのさ-
なんだかそんなことを言われたような気がして、急いで家に入りました。
何度か窓からゴミ回収場所をチェックしていますが、その後は食い散らかされた形跡はありません。

In Japan, we take out garbage following the regional weekly schedule.
In Sapporo, we have trash and raw garbage collection day twice a week,
plus one recycling day and one non-burnable substance collection day.
When you want to clear out your furniture or other over-sized commodities,
you have to call the municipal cleaning department and arrange its collection for a fee.
On the two raw garbage collection days, crows are gathered to the place
and mess up the garbage bags looking for some food.
I talked to the crow, which was tactfully pulling the protection covering away, saying
"Why don't you pick those earthworms that come out of soil on a rainy day like this.
Stop messing up or you'll always be hated."
Then I know how crows would say if only they know how:
"You people asphalted the earth. Where do earthworms live, if you ever know?
And what's wrong with it when people are wasting their food and we are only deploying resources?
And I flew back home having no more word to say.
It is raining, and I am reflecting.
