北海道は真ん中に大きな山脈が縦にあるので、

西半分は大雪になりますが、
ｗest half becomes heavy snow,
東半分はほとんど雪が降りません。
but the eastern half rarely snows.
雪が降らない替わりに、
Instead of snow,
放射冷却現象でものすごく冷え込みます。
it'll chill terribly in radiative cooling phenomenon.
気温がマイナス１５℃くらいで条件が整うと、
Temperatures in the minus 15 degree centigrade conditions is ready
「フロストフラワー」というものを見ることが出来ます。
you can see what's called "Frost Flower".
フロストフラワーとは「霜の花」、「冬の華」とも言われます。
It's said that "frost flowers", as the "flower of winter" and Frost Flower.
湖に薄氷が張るときに、運がよければ見ることが出来ます。
