Yesterday I went to the cinema with a friend of mine and saw the movie the Hunger Games. Having read the book I kind of understand the hype around it. Not the greatest book series I have ever read but good enough and indeed interesting to see come to life on screen. The movie itself was a slight disappointment with its plot misses but was though still able to keep it interesting even for one that has read the books. Also I feel that due to the fact they had to edit it for a 11+ audience some of the characters were too... so to say, kind. I missed some of the more sadistic sides to the district one and two tributes. They were indeed very wonderfully portrayed but I felt the characters really didn't enjoy it as much as they should and all honestly I caught myself actually quite liking Cato even though in the book he was absolutely horrible and very easy to dislike.
I did find some of the effects to be a bit... lame. They didn't give me the impact that they did in the book, some of then were even horribly lame. Overall it didn't leave me feeling like I has hoped it would. I found it very easy to keep in the tears even though I cried like a baby more than once while reading.
There weren't really many scares and the storyline was severely dissected and jumbled. Also, the use of the jump out scare was really low. The most common thing to do, so often used and they did it too. Worked just as well though but feel it's a bit overused and boring.
Now I'll stop and go finish reading my new book and eat some candy. Awesome.
