It's Olga again!

Hi

How is everyone? I hope you are keeping warm and cozy by taking out your kotatsus because now is the right time to use them!

During this week's adult's lessons we practiced a bit the pronunciation of the letter "o". It's more difficult that it seems once you are conscious that there is more than one way to pronounce it, right? Don't worry, we'll get the hang of it soon.

We will have another extra Spanish lesson today at Beppu's classroom from 9pm to 9:30pm! And guess what? We now have a new Spanish student in Oita's classroom too! Spanish lessons are so popular! I'm very happy! yay!

Tomorrow we will have German class at 3:30pm. I hope we get more students for this class too. Is anybody interested? But before that, at 1:00pm we will hold a TOEIC sample test for our students! Please contact us if you are interested!

Oh and you will hear about this on our website, but we held a special English lesson for Oita Prefecture's candidates for next year's Miss Universe beauty contest! They were all so very beautiful... and smart! We will hold a second lesson next week too! Here is a picture of this week's lesson.

昨日から教室の机を新しいものにかえました
今まで使っていた白くて大きい机から、一人ずつ分かれているブラウンの机にしました
一番に使ったのは火曜のキッズクラスの生徒たち
新しい机をみた瞬間…「机がかわっちょーーん！」と大騒ぎ＆大喜び
これほど喜んでくれると、一台ずつスタッフで組み立てた甲斐があります
その後は落ち着きを取り戻し、上手にレッスンを受けていました



そして他にも新しく教室に来たものがこちらのトンネル
ママたちのお迎えを待つのも楽しくなりそうですね



あれ？途中からなんだか”トンネル”らしくない遊び方をしていますが…



とーっても楽しそうだからまぁいいか



色々かわった教室を見て、他のクラスの生徒たちがどんなリアクションを見せてくれるのか楽しみです
これからも生徒たちが楽しく学べる環境づくりをしていきたいと思います

☆英検面接☆

昨日11月11日はポッキーの日

…もありますが、私たちが一番気になるのは、2012年度第2回英検の二次試験でした。

当校でも、2級1名、準2級1名、3級2名が受験してきました。

資格をとって以来初めて、準会場指定校として英検に参加した今回ですが、
一次試験の日は、準備やら試験監督やらで大わらわの一日でした。

二次試験は本会場のみとなるので、やれることはすべてやった万全の状態で送り出す(つもり)のですが、
1次試験では、合格点ギリギリで受かった子もいて、結果が出るまで本人と同じくらい心配の毎日です。


(私が受験した)一昔前に比べると、英検の面接はずいぶん様変わりしていると感じています。
以前は、いかに内容を正確に読んでいるか、質問の内容を理解しているか、が評価される質問が多かったですが、
最近では、"Describe the picture as much as you can.(できるだけたくさん、絵の描写をしなさい)"
という質問や、
"Do you think more people will enjoy gardening in the future?(今後、ガーデニングを楽しむ人が増えると思いますか？)"
という受験者自身の考えをその場で述べる問題も増えています。
こういった質問は難しく考えずに、
・小学生でも考えられる内容を
・中学生レベルの英語で
・はっきり自信をもって
答えることが一番です。

たとえば、
"I like flowers."
"Gardening is very fun."
"It can be good exercise."

といったものでも大丈夫なんです

"土と触れ合うことにより人の心が癒されるから、今後ガーデニングをする人の数は増えていくだろう"
なんて文章をがんばって英語にしようと考えたりしますが、全然そんな必要はないんですよ

これは、英検面接だけでなく、大人や学生の英会話にも言えることですよね。
4月からは、中3までの段階で"英語を臆することなく話せる""英語で自分の意見が言える"生徒の育成に力を入れた、新小5コースも始まります。

Hello! This is Olga!

It's getting colder and colder here in Beppu! Be sure to wear enough clothes when you go out!

This week's adult's lessons were so fun! I always enjoy our wonderful talks. We are smoothly going through our textbook. Everyone be sure to review how to make questions with regular verbs and using wh- words, okay?

Remember, if you were absent you can always come to any of our other classes. Here's the schedule for Beppu:
Monday 8pm to 9pm
Tuesday 7pm to 8pm
Friday 7pm to 8pm

And if you want to challenge your skills you can also come to the free conversation class today here in Beppu!

We will also have an extra Spanish lesson this Friday at 9pm by request of two of our students. Wow! Their eagerness to study Spanish makes me feel super motivated! Let's do our best today!! ¡¡Ánimo!!

On another subject, we will start to use a new textbook for the German lesson soon! We are all very excited!! Wir geben unser Bestes!!!

Did everyone see the English word featured on our advertising board outside?
It's "feast"! Very adequate for Thanksgiving day, right? Huh? You don't know about Thanksgiving day? It's an American holiday celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November! Families gather to thank God for many things and have a "feast"! Next time you come to the classroom check the advertising board for the meaning of "feast"

ますます寒くなってきたこの頃…そして近づいてくる年末最大のイベントといえば
キッズたちがとーっても楽しみにしているクリスマス

Forward Englishでもクリスマスの飾り付けを少しずつ始めています
前の植木をライトアップして、お知らせボードもクリスマス仕様にしてみました






これからもっとクリスマスらしくしていく予定なので、教室の前を通るときにはぜひチェックしてみてくださいね

また、5年生が中学英語の準備に入りました！！中学のテキストをとても楽しそうに学んでいる生徒たち…
この先どんどん実力をつけていく生徒たちの姿を想像すると講師たちも楽しみで仕方ありません
しっかりと確実に英語力がつき、しかも楽しいレッスンを行っていきたいと思います
