It shows thy whole cynism of war: They protect the soldiers on the ships not getting killed by nazi submarine only that they could get killed by nazi soldiers on the land...
The CGI can become obvious at times but it is a very entertaining and well made movie about an often overlooked aspect of ww2. Would watch again and recommend.
TOM HANKS almost 3 decades too old for the role. At this stage of the war US navy no match for U-boats who had over 30-1 kill ratio against allied merchant ships. The few victories over U-boats in early 1942 fell victim to the British. Nothing new or accurate in this turkey.
Would the 40mm AA guns have penetrated the hulls and coning towers of the uboats? Seems like an easy sink, if true.
Didn't realize Uboats wasted their torpedo compliment on destroyers or destroyer escorts let alone fight surface engagements with them. Their mission was to sink freighters, tankers and troop ships. English, American and Canadian destroyers (and planes) managed to kill thousands of whales and a couple of hundred Uboats though.

Had very low expectations of this movie, and sure in parts it seems a bit pedestrian but overall its a 90 minute ride that will have you forgetting what the time is and make you forget you have a drink in your hand. I would certainly recommend and would happily watch again.

People think, when thinking of WW2 naval battles, of the mighty battleships and aircraft carriers. Of the Pilots of the Yorktown, Lexington, Enterprise, Akagi or Soryu. The sailors of the Bismark, Yamato, Gneisenau or Hood. Few think of the men aboard the support ships, whose efforts and sacrifice were just as great. The convoy escorting destroyers and corvettes, the anti aircraft and fire supporting light cruisers, the transport ships, the oil tankers, the Uboats. Their war was just as fierce. Let us remember and honor those men, on both sides of the Second World War.

I have a whippet and he is one of the best things that has happened to me. Greyhounds, Whippets, and Italian Greyhounds are the sweetest animals ever. ❤️😊 If you are looking for a smaller dog than get an Italian Greyhound, if you dont really care get a Whippet or a Greyhound. These breeds are so gentle and easygoing.
People need to do some research on Hanks before going to his movies and putting him on a pedestal.
