Moroccan Hammam Historically the first public bath was created by the Roman empire more than 2000 years ago. They allowed citizens to visit local bathhouse to cleanse themselves and keep a good hygiene. The idea caught up with the rest of the world and Morocco were amongst the first one to embrace that way of bathing and even made it a community ritual. When the Almohad dynasty came to power in the 12th century, they immediately began construction of hammams throughout Morocco Part of the ancient way of visiting a hammam started even before the journey to cleanliness since you had to go to the souk ( street market ) to get your own essential bathing products. In modern days hammam, all is provided by the facilities for you to discover and enjoy. The Arabic word hammam means 'spreader of warmth'. On the one hand, you can interpret it literally as hammams consist of different steam rooms and spread a lot of warmth. But they spread warmth also in a metaphorical sense: Moroccan people go to the hammam to catch up with friends and socialise: Moroccans make business or even arrange marriages. 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇 👉Follow us and tag yourself if you are interested in sharing your most perfect pictures of our beautiful country @moroccofriendlytravel Credit:® @hafiidii.omaar @walidtighazoui . . #ig_travel #travelworld_addiction #cityshots #historicarchitecture #travelinspiration #wonderfulplaces #intravelist #heritagephotography #worldheritageday #historylovers #historygram #historian #historical #archaeology #archaeologist #archaeologylife #worldhistory #historynerd #travelphotography #traveltheworld #travelblog #holiday #travels #travelworld #traveller #simplymorocco #lovemorocco #marrakech #instamorocco #moroccovacations
