It is read that boxing is exclusively a male occupation. Contrary to the prevailing stereotype, more and more women prefer to enter the ring instead of a treadmill. On my example, I’ll tell you why we, girls, need such a tough sport.

My hobby for sports started simply - a friend of mine once mentioned that he was engaged in boxing. He said this casually, between things, and I remembered. This thought did not go out of my mind for a long time. After a few days, I nevertheless questioned him in detail about boxing, and he suggested going to a trial training together.
I was met warmly. No one was surprised at the appearance of the girl. I was not the only one in the audience. In addition to me, six athletes of different ages and complexions are engaged in boxing here.
Amanda. Pretty tight girl, but here she does not have to lose weight or make a sports career. She just likes to spend time pounding a pear.
Elizabeth.. He is trying, as they say, to cultivate a character in himself. She is studying to be a lawyer and intends to subsequently become a lawyer. She believes that a fighting vein in her career will not hurt her.
We are engaged on a par with the guys, and there is no separation (except for the shower and the dressing room) between us. Rather, it all depends on the level of training than on gender.
Some friends ask why I don’t come from training with bruises. Such a surprise is expressed by people who are not at all familiar with sports, especially martial arts. Any athlete knows that during sparring full protective equipment is worn: gloves, cap, helmet for the head. That’s the whole secret.
It has been a year since I first entered the boxing gym. During this time I met a large number of athletes, and I can identify four reasons why girls are engaged in boxing.
Beautiful figure and optimal weight
Boxing is a good alternative to fitness. Someone does yoga, aerobics or dancing, and someone does boxing. The same enhanced workouts and power loads, the same lost pounds and the ability to maintain your body in a fit form.
That's why many girls start fighting. For beginners, regular workouts seem pretty exhausting, but over time, the load seems familiar.
For one workout, about 1000-1500 calories are consumed. Two or three lessons per week eliminates the need to follow the figure and deny yourself different tastes. On the contrary, appetite improves, but extra pounds do not appear.
The ability to let off steam
Problems at work, quarrels with friends, an unsuccessful exam, spilled coffee on your favorite blouse - all this does not contribute to spiritual harmony and tranquility. In this state, it is not difficult to break into completely innocent people. In addition, being in a constant tension mode is harmful to mental and physical health.
Boxing pears is a great way to blow off steam. To punch a pear or choose a sparring partner for this - the girl decides for herself. All the negativity with which you come to training turns into adrenaline and endorphin.
Moreover, at the place of the pear you can imagine your problem and literally hammer it.
At one time, I often represented the face of a pear on the face of a teacher who did not want to set me off, and, you know, that really made me feel much better.
Confidence and self-defense
Girls have less physical strength than men, so they are insecure about conflict issues. Many of my friends are afraid to return home in the dark, fearing a possible attack and knowing that they will not be able to fight back. There is no particular hope for a pepper spray - too much time will pass until you get it out of the bag.
But there is no need to search for the right strike - in case of danger, muscle memory is activated. Even the outwardly fragile girl, with appropriate preparation, will bathe an adult strong man.
In addition, the idea that you can fight back gives confidence not only in dark streets, but also in other areas of life - at work, in personal relationships and self-realization. It sounds strange, but it really works - as if you are discovering in yourself another person who has been in sleep mode all this time.
Self test
This reason motivates me more than others to do boxing. I wanted to know what I stand and how much I can do - a kind of realization of ambition. In addition, boxing, even at an amateur level, can lead to a professional ring. And just a hobby can be a dizzying career. I do not plan to quit yet!
So what do you think about this?
