山下泰裕（68）首から下が動かせず、車いす生活
五輪柔道金メダリストで、2年前の２０２３年１０に頸髄損傷の大けがを負って長期療養している日本オリンピック委員会（JOC）前会長の山下泰裕氏（68）
現在は首から下がほとんど動かせず、車いすで生活をしている。
負傷後、メディアの取材に対応するのは初めて。
山下氏によると、2023年10月29日に家族で出かけた温泉施設の露天風呂から上がる際に意識を失い、2メートル近い崖下に転落。四つの病院で手術やリハビリなどを行い、
２０２５年9月23日に退院したという。
入院中に妻や子どもたちから「生かされているのには意味がある」と励まされ、社会復帰を目指した。
語り口調や顔つきは負傷前とほぼ変わらず、２０２５年11月には体育学部武道学科特任教授を務める母校の東海大でオンライン講義を予定している。
負傷後、心身を支えたのは自らが歩んだ道だった。「柔道を通して学んだことを人生で生かしていくのが柔道の道。首から下が動かなくなって、私は真の柔道家かどうかが試されている」とした。
「いいことも悪いことも、幸運も不運も、いろんなことが起きての人生だ」と語った。
