Xbox Oneの下位互換機能は、今年のE3で発表され、話題を集めたXbox Oneの新機能。Xbox 360タイトルが、Xbox Oneでプレイ可能になるというもので、対応タイトルのプレイにはゲームを保有している必要があるものの、機能自体は無料で利用できる。
Xbox One下位互換機能では、Xbox 360のセーブデータや追加コンテンツなども利用可能で、Xbox 360の状況をほぼそのまま引き継ぐことができる。機能的にもマルチプレイを含め、ほぼすべての機能を利用可能で、ゲームDVRやスクリーンショット撮影機能、Windows 10へのストリーミング機能など、Xbox Oneの機能も新たに利用可能となるため、Xbox 360ライフがより充実することになる。
ローンチタイトルは、「Halo」シリーズや、「Gears of War」シリーズ、「Fable」シリーズといった自社タイトルを手始めに、Xbox Liveゴールドメンバーに無料でゲームを提供するプログラム「Games with Gold」で提供されているタイトル、Xbox Liveアーケードタイトルなどを中心に104タイトルがラインナップされている。

なお、Xbox One下位互換機能は月1ペースの定期アップデートが予定されており、「Halo Reach」、「Halo Wars」、「Call of Duty: Black Ops 1」、「Bioshock, Bioshock 2」、「Bioshock Infinite」、「Skate 3」の追加を予告。Activisionの「COD」シリーズと、2K「Bioshock」シリーズが早くもラインナップに加わることになる。
その一方で、E3の発表以降、「COD」シリーズと並んで、要望の上位にランクインしていた「Red Dead Redemption」や「Skyrim」は未採用となっている。
エレクトロニックアーツより、１１月１９日に発売を予定している『Star Wars Battlefront』に登場する惑星にスポットを当てた新トレーラー“The Planets of Star Wars Battlefront”を公開。タトゥイーンの広大な砂漠やサンドクローラーが登場する新マップ、豊かな自然が印象的なエンドア、ホスに存在する氷の洞窟、サラストの壮大な渓谷など、未見の新マップを多数収録した見事な映像が登場しました。
