This book is about mixing for home recordist. The author is a renowned mixing engineer who worked with Charlatans', Reef's, Therapy's albums. It made me feel like reading this book first. It's more convincing to read a book written by a engineer who mixed the records I like, right?
I read some books written by Japanese mixing engineers a bit. they are informative but it was not fun to read. You know, I've never listened to the CDs they mixed/mastered.
I can't tell if those engineers are great or not. Well, of course, I'm a beginner of DTM. There must be profound knowledge or technique I can't reach, though.
Also, the reviews of the book on Amazon.com attracted my attention. Almost all of the 197 reviewers gave 5 stars on this book! It's so remarkable! From the fact, I thought it worthwhile to read it too.
What's more, he tells his e-mail address on the book; the readers can ask him about mixing directly. Apparently some reviews actually sent e-mails to him. Guess what? He replied to them promptly! Other recognized engineers can do the same thing? What an ultimate customer service!
Anyway, You might want to read the book even if you are not used to reading English books. Either way, you will encounter a tons of audio jargons even if you read Japanese books on Mixing. So, I don't think it's hard to read when it comes to reading books on those topics xD

日本のミキシングエンジニアが書いた本も少し目を通したけど、読んでてあまり面白くなかったです。もちろん参考になることもあったんだけど、なんていうかな、彼らが手がけた作品を聴いたことないから、どれくらい腕があるのかわからないし。
もちろん、僕はDTM初心者だから偉そうなことは言えないし、僕には理解の及ばない深い知識やテクニックがあるんだろうけどね。
