アメリカ政府は日本がTPP参加以降も、混合診療について全面解禁を求めない姿勢をしめした。一方日本医師会は混合診療がTPP交渉対象とならなくとも 国家と投資家の紛争解決（ISDS)により米国企業が日本政府を提訴することで全面解禁になる可能性を懸念している。政府側はこの可能性を否定している。また米側は株式が良さの病院経営参入も求めない意向を示している。

厚生省が認めていない薬物・治療を患者当人の希望で接種または受ける場合は保険診療の費用まで自費負担となる制度。これには多くの保険加入者が早期制度拡充を求めている。

When a patient requests on taking medication or to receive treatments which is not recognized by the Japanese government, the whole medical cost incured during the course of the patient's treatment for a paticular illness will not be covered by insurance. Therefore, majority of insurance policy holders are requesting for the expansion of the insurance policy
