こんばむは～

は～

ちびひよとの出会いを書きながら

あの可愛い鳴き声を思い出していました

そして、ひよのお母上の

哀しげな声～

どこ、どこ、どこなの？いないの、いるの？

いなきゃ、困るのよ～

（結構、必死～）

あの声を聞くと

親子の愛情について

ふか～く考えさせられます

鳥でも、馬でも蛙でも

（もちろん　カマキリもだよ）

赤ちゃんの頃は、ほんとに可愛い～

ミカンのおやじの葉っぱだって

葉先のトゲはほにょほにょだよ

（痛くもなんともない）

そう言う柔らかな心

いつまでも持っていたいな～であります

おっと、それでは今夜のお届け

Baby Hiyo’s Diary 6

Universal Law of Life

In retrospect, it was at that moment that I realized a Universal Law of Life – to survive, all of us must be strong and tough.

Look at the woman!

She looked so slender and unstable (physically as well as mentally).

In fact, while she was murmuring, she was staggering and nearly fell a few times for no reason.

Yet, as soon as her eyes fixed on me, she transformed herself into an agile panther!

As the Nature goes, whenever a helpless little bird pops up in front of her, a panther claps her hands and excites about her good luck!

I never wished to race her, but I was pretty sure that she was into it.

Throwing her wet rag (Remember, her original plan was to clean her bike?) and skipping the usual practice of greeting, she pounced on me, like a deserted woman!

As she moved so alert and quickly, I could feel the earth move under my feet.

“You know you can’t do that!” I cried, and leapt out of the bush as swiftly as I could.

With a trembling breath, I narrowly escaped from her and perched on a nearly branch.

What scared me to death was she seemed to be actively participating in the chasing game.

She was only interested in wasting her time on the game as a nasty cop in a speeding patrol car.

Honestly, I had no idea why she was so mad at me.

“Have I violated her turf, or tarnished her pride, or what??”

Her outrageous behavior was totally unpredictable and unjustifiable.

(Yes, some people are like that, indeed!).

Yet, with all my strength, finally, I fluttered and reached one of the electric cables dangling over my head.

“Oh, thank god! Safe, safe! I’ll never go nearby a woman like her (even if she was sexy and very attractive)!”

My heart pounded and gasped violently at her acts of pure madness.

Luckily, I did not collapse or was not killed.

Although my life as a bird is mostly based on my own instincts, I came to understand another Law of Life – the well-known cause and effect concept.

This is because up to the point, she had been simply a merciless predator to me.

Given the turn of events, however, she could have been a fabulous and friendly kitten, because, to my surprise, her reaction to my agility was totally unexpected.

She smiled a sweet smile, and looked up at me in amazement.

“Wow, you, a little creature! In a year, you can fly thousands of miles away…!”

Perhaps, she was going to save me and offer me a place to stay?

Was that the reason for her tenacious hunting game?

Then, in the silence that followed, I heard my Mum calling me.

She was in a panic and blaring at me,

“What on earth were you doing?!”

(That’s exactly I was going to shout at you…, Mum!)

I’m sure that Poet Calico cat (that crazy woman) was also about to ask me (and herself) that same question…

Oh, silly of me, foolish of Mum, and stupid of Poet Calico Cat…!!
