書いてるうちに、昨日見た

Sayuri のイメージが強くなり

あっという間に　日本文学の世界へと

突入してしまいました

しかし、本当に、英文を書くのは

難しい～

この単語とこの単語は一緒に使わない

（ええっ～、日本語ではOKだよ）

ここにこれをいると、意味が違ってくる

（ええ、変わらないでしょうが～）

もう、全く疲れます

（そして、自信がくるみの実のようにちいさくすぼむ）

Correct Answer 7 The Rest of the Story

Goro told me the rest of the story.

“I said ok (so simple?), and saw her apartment once again. Even in the darkness, I could recognize how old it was.

The roof was thatched and the white shoji windows (paper sliding door) were rattling in the soft warm breeze (It had stopped raining already).

A yellow full moon appeared above a range of small mountains that towered over the house. In the moonlight, the house looked so desolate (and no one was there besides us…)

She looked at me, and said, “Follow me.” When she opened the front door, contrary to my expectations, there was a huge long corridor in front of us.

The creaking sound of the wooden door behind us made me tremble with a little fear. So I said in my own mind, “Oh, this is not what I want…!”

But, look at her! She was still as slim and agile as a young panther.

The way she walked captured my heart. I just could not take my eyes off her. I reassured myself that I knew what I wanted.

Without looking back at me, she again murmured, “follow me, please.” Yes, I was rather out of breath chasing her, as she walked so fast that I nearly lost her. (That was not what I wanted, either!)

Like the white rabbit with a waistcoat-pocket watch, which ran close by Alice, the white woman hurried up the hallway.

At one moment, she was very close to me. In another moment, she was far ahead from me.

It was really like chasing love.

On both sides of the hall were countless rows of Fusumas (another kind of sliding paper door used in traditional Japanese houses). Running along them, I could see a variety of typical Japanese designs loom out of the somber darkness : cranes, tigers, plum tress and ocean waves.

Then, in front of a shabby grey paper Fusuma, she suddenly stopped and said quietly, “Come inside, please?”

By then, my heart had already shrunk to the size of a walnut and successfully but frantically convinced me that I should not go inside with her.

The room that I peeped into was too strange, because purple spots ( of blood?! No way, please!) were scattered all over the floor.

No, I could hardly believe that this was true...but can still visualize all these pictures. As a sign of her regret, disappointment and anger against a man that she once loved, that red liquid ( commonly called blood among humans ) must have been shed there…but whose was it, and by whose hand?

In the light of an Andon (an old-fashioned Japanese light with a candle in it) I saw her in its glow timidly but cautiously. She did not look as attractive as I had first thought (her nose was rather big and too much make-up, I regret to say).

Her white blouse was already dry and there was, in fact, nothing remarkable about her. In the darkness of the car, she had looked mysterious and alluring, but now she was one of those homely women that we may find here and there.”

Yes, Goro. Every woman looks pretty when seen in the dark, at a distance, or under a bamboo hat. And, every love looks fancy when you are far away from it.

He continued, “I don’t remember how I escaped from her (now he was using escape from..!) but I was lucky that I could come back without any emotional or physical injuries.” (please, Goro, watch your words…!)

I wonder why she lost her charm for Goro? Was it because she felt relieved and looked so relaxed when she thought that she had caught him as game (of what kind?).

Or, was it because he felt that she was going to give him a lesson of love and hatred? No idea at all.

The world of love is still full of mysteries for me, and definitely no one correct answer can apply to all.

This is what I believe, and no one needs to agree completely with me. But, don’t we still love to be temporarily blinded by love ?

I have a strong feeling that we still love it, and like Goro, we will adore the time, no matter how scary it may turn out to be (!?). That is who we are and how we should be, even though there may not be one correct answer..absolutely not.
