What is Google Chrome?

Chrome is an open-source internet browser developed by Google. Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google company, opposed the release of the Chrome browser until 6 years ago, while the company's founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page have hired several Mozilla Firefox developers to create my beta and have had great success.

The Chromium bill, which forms the base of Google Chrome, is under the BSD license. Taking advantage of the flexibility of the BSD license, although it is open source and free software, these codes can be used in the closed source Google Chrome project. The beta version of Google Chrome, first developed for Microsoft Windows on September 2, 2008, is available in 43 different languages. After that, Mac OS X and Linux versions were also developed.

Chrome is preferred more because it is very fast compared to other browsers. Especially professional users say that it is known to use up to 50 tabs. Similar to Safari, the user interface basically includes back, forward, refresh, bookmark, go and cancel options. Similar to Internet Explorer, we can show the location of the settings. We see that the minimize, maximize and close window buttons are based on Windows Vista.

Chrome Plugins

Chrome doesn't allow third-party software and plugins as easily as other browsers. But there are plugins and extensions specific to Google Chrome. Google Chrome extensions let you add more features and functionality to your browser. The profile and needs of each user are different. Chrome extensions allow you to customize Google Chrome to include features you like while saving users' browsers from features and clutter. In this way, each user can have a browser with unique content.

Ubuntu Google Chrome Setup

As of last night, I installed Ubuntu 19.04 on my laptop. Windows gradually continues to be an operating system that I have opened only when I play games. As always, Ubuntu welcomed me with the installation that is very useful and does not require much interaction. I have liked this feature since the day I first established it.

After the installation and other minor settings (Unity desktop etc. layout) are over, it came to my favorite Google Chrome installation as a web browser. Actually, it is nice in Mozilla Firefox that comes with the installation and I love using it too, but all my places, plug-ins and all other settings are in Chrome. Chrome is a little more successful on the web viewing. You can install it by downloading files from the website to install Google Chrome on Ubuntu, or via commands via the terminal.

The method I will explain below is the method made through the terminal. First, open the terminal window with the command Ctrl + Alt + T. Then we can start following the method below. Let's start by entering the following code in the terminal.

cd / temp

For 32-bit operating system depending on the type of operating system that you installed later;

wget https://dl.google.com/linux/direct/google-chrome-stable_current_i386.deb

For the 64-bit process, let's download the Google Chrome setup file using the command.

wget https://dl.google.com/linux/direct/google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb

After downloading our file, we can proceed to the installation phase with the following command. In this area, it will ask you for the administrator password. Don't forget to enter it.

sudo dpkg -i google-chrome *; sudo apt-get -f install

If we have completed the installation process without any errors, we can start Google Chrome again by entering the following command in the terminal.
