I need to cut my bangs and style my hair more, its usually pulled back in a tight bun with a head band. I mostly have it this way at work due to the fact that I work with food and drinks. I never give myself enough time to do a hairstyle so I just rush out without combing it *lazy* I kinda like how I did my hair here even tho is just really messy!

Reticently my boyfriend started a Netflix account here in Canada. It originated in the US and it is now finally available to us Canadians :P This is one of the main reasons why most video rental stores like Blockbuster have gone out of business. For around 10$ a month you can watch unlimited amounts of movies and tv shows, renting 1 video at Blockbuster would be almost the same price, so you can see why most people switched over to this method (or people just download their media) I love having Netflix on my iPhone! I have been able to watch tons of shows wherever I go and travel, as well has having access to it on my laptop :) Unfortunately, since Netflix came out over here very recently, the library of movies and videos is not as vast as the US version, I suppose due to certain copyright laws from country to country, as well as the fact that the US has had more time to upload 100's of movies and shows. For example, in the US you can find almost all of the episodes from Saturday Night Live from the 70's to the 00's. However we only have the 90's and the 00's. I think overtime we will have a wider variety of choices but it will probably take awhile for it to be uploaded.
Right now I've been watching old teen dramas from the late 80's and early 90's
Degrassi Jr High & Degrassi High

The Degrassi series is possibly one of Canada's most popular and successful shows, with an international audience and is still being aired to this day. It also was the base of a spin off series that began in 2000, but I can only get into the retro series :) It follows a large group of students (around 30 kids) and their days of adolescence from Jr High and High School. There are some very basic coming of age stories that seemed to be appropriate at the time, but can also be related to by today's youth. It covers every type of teen issue from teen pregnancy, abortions, drugs, dating, eating disorders, alcoholic parents, sexual abuse, and the list goes on. It was gutsy for them to cover so many controversial issues at the time, but that's what made the show realistic and relateable. I thought the acting was pretty good considering most of the cast were not trained actors, and the overall set up is very realistic. Sometimes it can come off as really cheesy and cliche, but let's not forget that this was made in the 80's and a lot of these issues were not really discussed at the time. I mainly enjoy watching this show for nostalgic reasons, I never actually saw this when in aired, I was too young and the show didn't air in the UK which was where I was living at the time. I love seeing what outfits the kids would wear, the crazy hair styles and so on. It was also very interesting to see the Toronto area during that time, and it felt like I had been teleported back in time. It's fun to just giggle at how kids behaved in general, I think today's youth is way more mature and are far from being as naive and innocent as the kids on this show. Another interesting aspect of the show is just being able to observe the character developments for each character as well as their general behavior and attitudes. However many situations in the show reminded me of moments of my Jr High years. Degrassi Jr High had 3 seasons and Degrassi High had only 2 seasons, which is a shame because they still had a few more years before graduation, so you never really see where things go after that. The only conclusion they had was a made for TV move called "School's Out" But it still isn't very conclusive except for a small handful of the characters. Overall, it's really entertaining if your into retro and nostalgic entertainment.
Beverly Hills 90210

Oddly enough this show was spawned and inspired by the Degrassi series, and came out shortly after Degrassi ended. This was a show that I absolutely LOVED as a kid, even though it wasn't really appropriate for my age. It came out around 1990 so I was around 7 or 8 at the time. I only followed the show until the 4th season, mainly because my favorite character Brenda, was no longer on the show, It also focused on the adult lives of the characters while I mainly enjoyed the high school years. To be honest it just became dull and less exciting after while. Much like Degrassi, it followed the lives of a group of teens living in the glamorous world of Beverly Hills. The main characters, Brenda and Brandon, twins from Minneapolis, move from their humble home to the flashy L.A scene. The first 2 seasons show how they adjust to this new lifestyle. Again like Degrassi the series touches on adolescence issues but with a different twist. The show gives us a glimpse of the lives of very wealthy and privileged teens, with parents who ignore or neglect their kids and are not as emotionally supportive, which is interesting to see at the time. It also touched upon similar issues in Degrassi but does not go into the same amount of detail. However, most of the show is focused on the love lives of the characters especially as the series progresses. Again I mainly went back to watching this for it's cheesy nostalgic factor, as well as just seeing sunny L.A, which I have visited reticently, and it is just as amazing as how I saw it on the show. I also really enjoy Brandon's character. He has a really good heart and is always looking out for people who are not capable of sticking up for themselves, and there needs to be more people like him in the world. Watch the show and you'll know what I mean.
Thanks for reading and I hope check this shows out if you are into this sort of thing :D
