View this post on Instagram I have fond memories of my early 90’s to early 00’s Shibuya adventures. Shibuya used to be a big hub for record stores (HMV, Technique, vinyl shops etc.), alternative fashion stores (similar to the Harajuku scene), lots of underground clubs and live houses, bars and most of all Shibuya 109 culture, コギャル (kogaru), ガングロ (Ganguro), the infamous ヤマンバ (yamanba) and its male version the モリオ (morio). Had a massive crush on #EUROBEAT & #PARAPARA culture that was originated in Shibuya but later spread nationwide. EGG magazine was the Shibuya black face bible and every month you’d get your dose of Shibuya street culture, fashion, dating tips and club announcements. The back pages featured tons of cringy diet, hiyake (tan salons) and plastic surgery ads. I’ve randomly documented this movement through photography.
