The Question I Couldn’t Let Go Of
After the last episode,
one question simply wouldn’t leave my mind:
Did the manager take everything home?
With that smile?
Surely not.
But still… it crossed my mind.
Of course, this was nothing more than speculation.
I had no proof.
And even if it were true,
I didn’t want to embarrass the manager.
So I resisted the (slightly mischievous) urge to ask another staff member,
“So… did you ever get to try those skincare products?”
Because if I asked,
I’d know the answer instantly.
But I’m not mean.
So I didn’t.
America is a big place.
And “Americans” aren’t one single type of person.
People are different everywhere.
Still…
I wanted to check.
After some time had passed,
I brought souvenirs from New York 🗽.
I handed them to the manager and said,
“Please share these with everyone.”
This time, I was careful.
Just small tea-time sweets.
Exactly one per person.
No extras.
Then I left the shop.
In about a week,
I plan to go back.
Now the question is:
Will anyone say something to me?
Since it was food,
I imagine the manager will have handed them out.
Or maybe not.
Either way—
