City Flags Will Welcome Visitors To Downtown Boynton Beach

Flag day . . . They will offer a rah rah, flag flapping welcome in teal, yellow, blue and purple, emblazoned with pictures of a sailfish and a compass and the words Michael Kors Cheap "City of Boynton Beach." The 200 flags are the city's attempt to identify and champion the downtown area, a rough square of consignment shops, lawnmower repair shops and homes. The flags should be hanging from light poles by the end of June, said Ginny Shea, community promotions supervisor for the city. The flags, worth $15,000 and designed by West Palm Beach artist Mark Fuller, are meant to "liven up the vista" of downtown Boynton, said Chamber of Commerce President Kathy Shabotynskyj, a member of the Visions 20/20 group that decided flags would help Boynton's image.
