１．歯が立たない - Too tough, over one's head, have no chance against
この問題は難しすぎて、歯が立たない。
This problem is way too hard, it's well over my head.
イングランドがいくら強くてもオールブラックスに歯が立たないでしょう
No matter how strong England gets, they have absolutely no chance against the All Blacks.
２．耳が痛い - be ashamed to hear, feel a pain in ones ear
(Note: This isn't literal. It's the kind of situation where someone is talking about something you feel personally ashamed to hear about. Like if they're talking about the time you did all those embarrassing things when you were little.)
酔っ払った時の話を聞くと耳が痛い。
It's embarrassing hearing about all the shit I got up to whilst I was drunk.
その話は耳が痛い。恥ずかしいから言わないで。
Don't say that stuff, it's embarrassing.
３. 耳にたこができる - Be sick of hearing. To hear something too many times.
(Some may interpret たこ to mean octopus but that's not the case here. Literally it means to grow callouses in your ears from hearing something too many times. Kind of like how you'll grow callouses on your hands when you use them too much)
その話にたこができるぐらい聞いた。
I've heard this story way too many times.
祖父は耳にたこができるぐらい同じ話を繰り返すので、疲れる。
My grandfather tells the same story over and over again, it's tiring.
4. 手を抜く - To cut corners, not really try.
(Note: Literally translated, this means to do something without your hands. As in, to not put in the effort of using your hands.)
建設中に手抜き工事があったので、地震で崩れてしまった。
During construction, they cut corners so when an earthquake hit, the building collapsed.
真面目な彼が仕事の手を抜くなんて珍しい。
It's rare for a hardworking guy like him to cut corners at work.

この英語の形容詞の前に「too」を入れたら「～すぎる」って同じ意味。だから「Too Big」は「大きすぎる」という意味です。
These Japanese words are adjectives. Taking away the い and replacing it with すぎる changes the meaning. Therefore "大きいすぎる ＝ 大きすぎる” means "Too Big".

英語の勉強で色々な面白くて役に立つ表現や言葉を学びました。英語は確かに難しいですから勉強で面白い言葉が出たら、勉強が楽しくなるでしょう。
Along my Japanese studies I've stumbled across a few interesting phrases and words. Studying Japanese is hard and it helps when you find something funny or interesting along the way.
英語
1. She'll be right - これは特にオーストラリアとニュージーランドでよく使います。「大丈夫」という意味です。
2. Fair enough －またオーストラリアとニュージーランドでよく使う。たぶんイギリスもアメリカも。「それをよくわかった」という意味です。
3. Yeah, nah －この表現は絶対にニュージーランドしか見られない表現です。「嫌だ」という意味です。
4. Pissed (She's pissed/He's pissed) －二つの意味です。「酔っ払う」と「怒る」という意味。
例）"Don't go near her, she's pissed off” －彼女に近付くないで。怒ってるよ （"off"を入れたら「怒る」という意味になります。）
でも、"Don't go near her, she's pissed off her head" －彼女に近付くないで。酔っ払っちゃったよ （”off her head”という意味は「酔っ払っちゃったから頭がない。頭を使わない。だから酔っ払うという意味です。）
ちょっと難しいこれ。文脈によるよく考えて使ってみましょう。
5. See you/ See ya/ C ya －バイバイ・またね。
JAPANESE
1. 毒舌（どくぜつ/dokuzetsu) - Means a wicked tongue. Abusive language. Someone who is prone to lashing out with some very vicious and harsh words. The kanji mean "poisonous tongue"
Yeah Nishikido Ryo, I'm looking at you.
2. 積ん読 （つんどく/tsundoku) - I love that there's actually a word for this. It means to buy books and not read them. I'm guilty of this and there is a bookcase full of unread books to prove it.
3. 辻斬り （つじぎり/tsujigiri) - Killing a passerby in order to test out a new sword. I'm guessing they don't use this word so much these days (but the fact that the word exists in the first place is HILARIOUS to me)
4. 間抜け （まぬけ/manuke) - Dunce, idiot, blockhead. Another word to use other than the overused バカ。
５.役者馬鹿 （やくしゃばか/yakushabaka) - A person who is very skilled in only one aspect but lacks simple common sense or any other skill. A skilled actor who knows very little about life. The kanji basically means a duty person who is an idiot.
