三十三間堂 ～ Sanjusangen-do temple hall

正式名称は　蓮華王院　　1164年（長寛２年）　平清盛が造進

通称は　本堂の柱間の数が３３有ることに由来

本尊は「十一面千手千眼観世音」　　最大の中尊は国宝で湛慶の作

中尊を中心に１０００体の千手観音像が並ぶ

同じ堂内にある風神・雷神像も国宝

The official name is Rengeoin temple. In 1164'Chokan 2) built by Kiyomori Taira.

An alias "Sanjusangen-do" derives from the number of the span(GEN) between pillars in the hall.

The number is thirtythree "Sanjusan".

The principal image is JUICHIMENSENJUSENGANKANZEON,

which means the Goddess of Mercy with a thousnad hands and a thousand eyes.

The largest one is CHUSON and a national tresure, the work by a famous sculptor TANKEI.

Other 1000 SENJUKANNON line on both side of CHUSON.

The statues of FUJIN(God of wind) and RAIJIN(God of thunder) are also national tresures.

長楽寺～Chorakuji-temple

時宗の寺院　本尊は千手観音　延暦寺別院として最澄が創建

境内に儒学者 頼三洋山陽、三樹三郎 父子の墓がある

It belongs to Jishu school.

The principal image is SENJUKANNON(the Goddess of Mercy with a thousand hands).

Monk Saicho founded as a branch temple of Enryakuji temple.

In the precinct , there is a grave of Sanyo Rai and Mikisaburo Rai who are father and son of

Confucian.

東山の傾斜地に沿った庭園は、境内の高低差を利用して造られている

相阿弥作と伝えられる

A　garden is made to make the most of undulations of a precinct

along the slope of Mt. Higashiyama.

It is said that Soami is a founder.
