I was sitting on the sofa in my living room, relaxing. The message "You have received $1,000 in your bank account through Remit option" appeared in a pop-up notice on my phone. Since so many people get duped by phone calls and texts, at first I thought it was a hoax. But after giving it some thought, I decided to verify the information in my account. I couldn't believe the message was accurate and that a $1000 credit had been made to my account from a name I didn't recognise when I accessed my banking app. Remit Choice was being used by my brother to transfer me money, but he was at home.
At first, I thought about withdrawing the entire cash and unwinding. But my conscience prevented me from doing so. When I explained what had happened to my mother, she advised me to return the money to its proper owner rather than spending it. Following my mother's directive, I will never use money. I thus think about how to give it back to its original owner.
I call the Remit Choice customer service number I found and lay out the full problem. The customer care representatives were friendly and really helpful. They immediately got in touch with the real owner to determine whether he had done anything incorrect on the receiving end. He checked his transaction and found the issue.
When the problem was fixed, customer care requested that I transfer back the money based on these details. I do the same and give the money back to who it belongs to. I received kudos from the customer service personnel for such behaviour, and I now feel fantastic and at ease. After a few days, the owner of the money contacted to thank me for being truthful and to send me some cash as compensation for my great action.
